Has anybody ever played Breakdown by Namco & noticed the similarities to Eva?

The enemies in the game, the T'Lan, are creatures that posess forcefields that are impenitrable to bullets & can only be defeated by someone who has been artificially enhanced with their powers.
They emerged from an underground cavern buried under Japan for millions of years that even has artificial daylight & forests. The cavern even contains a mummified giant humanoid monster.

One of the supporting characters is a female scientist who wears a labcoat everywhere & even has a top with a zipper that has a ring on it. In another possible mecha anime reference, her pet cat is named Casval, which is the real name of Gundam's Char "Red Comet" Aznable.

The main antagonist, Solus (Soulless?), is a T'lan with humanlike features & long-ish, spiky silver hair.

Interesting, eh? There are tons of Eva inspired manga, anime & games out there (RahXephon, Brainpowered, Betterman, Xenoseries) but it's odd to see one that doesn't really involve giant biomecha...
2:34 And behold, We said to the angels: "Bow down to Adam" and they bowed down. Not so Iblis: he refused and was haughty: He was of those who reject Faith.

Giant robots with angels trapped inside of them,
Teenaged pilots & an evil organization,
Doing battle with giant monsters from beyond,
Mankind's last hope lies in the Evangelions
.

Interesting. I love seeing where influences and currents of ideas are taken. If it really is as much like Eva as you say, I should take a look at the game.
