'Cause thats what they speak in Hell.
Googling on esperanto kurso brings up far more esperanto courses than I can evaluate - most not in English. It's a language that shows the age when it was invented - there is a word for father (patro), but no word for parent - you just have patrino (mother) or gepatroj (parents); left is maldekstra (but south is sudo, rather than malnordo).
The only virtue Esperanto has is popularity - but English is spoken by more people. I find Occidental more elegant - and the grammar written in the language shows that it does really achieve its goal of being an easy second language. Only one problem with those links - you need to go View>Encoding>Iso to see the accented letters correctly, since the Russian server tells the world that the pages are Cyrillic.
Ceqli makes a good weird gobbledegook language

I took three years of German in high school, and took the German sequence in college, and had to do German translation for my "Distinction with Honors." However, I retained precious little.
But, I know it is still rolling around in my head somewhere, because occasionally I will dream in German.
But that's not so bad. I had a friend that used to talk in their sleep in Latin.

Done. Guarding.

HOLY CRAP.
THAT IS SCARY.
Thank the lord it never happened to me.
But, when i was studying for my Bat Mitzvah, I was praying in my friggin sleep. In hebrew, of course.
I still remember the prayer you say before readign the haf-torah. I remember having to practice the intonation because theres like, notes on the friggin prayer. I used to remember my haf-torah, but it was jibber jabber to me. Something about Abraham and idolotry, and I kept pronouncign idolotry as adultery. The rabbi had to change it, 'cause I'd say something bad in front of tons of old people.

I AM foreign. Haha.
Video games, TV and intrawebs taught me most of the English I know, a tiny bit has been taught by those who teach. Then there's Swedish, which has somewhat been forced inside my skull at school, and German, which I suck at, cos it's nearly as whacked out as the mother tongue of mine.

"I say Evamonkey did it himself. Been speaking english since forever. Learned how to read and type with Kid Icarus and Mario. First line I ever wrote down myself was in fact in english; "Thank you Mario, but the princess is in another castle".
But apart from being fluent in swedish and english, I never bothered much with a third language. Spanish and german both sound easy as shit, and I get the jist of it when readin/listening, but I never got very interested. Japanese will be my third.

I wont deny that both german and spanish are fairly easy to learn, but to truly master the language presents another dilema, it becomes more difficult. The reason the languages are easier to learn than most is because they are so similar to english, but given the proper respects both languages become a valued part of your arsenal. Plus, it never hurts to learn another language.
Also, don't disrespect a language you can't speak.

Native language:
German: Tach auch! Oo (East-Westphalian dialect)
Foreign languages:
English: No comment xD
French: Parlez vous pommes-frites? Oo (Ok, I've forgotten almost everything)
Japanese: 今日は。 (Ok, i try to learn it on my own, but normally I produce garbage when I try to say/write Japanese from scratch)

Thing is, german and spanish have too many similarities with swedish, english, and each other for me not to instantly understand some of it. I bought some spanish mangas a few years back, and although I cannot read them, like I said; I get the jist of it =)

Alright Kaysow no disrespect intented, just making a point. Spanish is my second language, and I don't want to see it disrespected. I put a lot of time into learning Spanish and German, and now I'm aiming at Japanese, so from my point of view I hold a great deal of respect for foreign languages and those who can speak more than one language.
