Oh, don't get me wrong. I like the fresh air. Probably the only reason I look for an alternative to the alternative is the lingering Texas twang from the English dub that keeps on thrumming in brain like an off-key banjo no matter how many times I watch the original version. Well, that and the world's most poorly mistranslated one-liner, i.e. "Why are you defending him? Are you riding his baloney pony?"

I do love the beige sweater vest (very cute!), and I always think to myself, "god bless that sweet liddle girl's scatter brained heart" every time I see RiAO running with a piece of bouncy, bouncy toast in her mouth. I just think dreamy rather than genki might be a better way to bridge the gap between Rei and RiAO. She'd still smile, you know ... it'd just be a dreamier one!

I did love the 'intake of fresh air' from episode 26 as well - poor thing got probably a tad abused by being made ultra-uber-genki in spin offs of all sorts... However Sparkie's concept of a traveling Rei Hepburn is also delightful...

Portable Kuukou left me with the bittersweet mental image of a lone Rei sitting on a fancy modern-design chair with a book or magazine, pretending to be in an airport/airplane directed to all sorts of wondrous places... but actually trapped inside her cylindrical glass cage.
