I might find some time for this hopefully. Too bad it wasn't 2 weeks earlier, since school is starting the 24th

I'm going to the showing in Portland tomorrow. Can't wait.

Also the showing here is listed as the English dub for those curious.

Gotta throw my NERV logo shirt in the wash tonight. :)

I saw it today on the big screen (in Portland)! It was awesome!

Visuals: These were incredibly good. Like, they left everything from the 1995 version in the dust. That tetrahedron angel-thingie was so beautiful compared to the original one, i was almost sad when they killed it (although that part looked awesome).
Audio: The dub wasn't bad as far as dubs go but nevertheless there where some parts where I lol'ed at the word choice. I don't like dubs.
Music: Awesome, though not as stunning as the visuals.

The changes were, IMO, all for the better and they did a really good job with everything. I was blown away. I'm now scared that the original won't look as good in the face of this new power.
This movie totally made my day.

I just got an email from the Kabuki Theater, the showing has been moved back to September 11th.

:shinchair:

Also, seeing as the showing is listed on Funimation's events, I bet it's the dub.

Ba-bump.

http://www.evageeks.org/2009/08/evangelion-1-0-showing-in-san-francisco/

It turns out the date has been changed to 9/11 for the showing. I have no idea if it WILL be a weekly run or not as advertised on the postcard though. Once I find out if it'll be dubbed or subtitled, I'll update with that information too.

You know I always feel kinda freaked out when movies are released on 9/11. This one especially. I mean like, giant robots? ( Don't nag me bout the synthetics, I get it )

I do think the fact that a post-apocalyptic film is showing on September 11 shows how long it's been since that Tuesday morning in 2001

even in San Francisco (sorry to stereotype, but it's too true IMO), I could not imagine this being shown back in 2002 or 2003, especially how you had that really bizarre list of "banned songs" that couldn't be played on the radio for a time because they supposedly invoked too much of some aspect of 9/11

P.S. For those wanting to discuss a matter with yours truly not pertaining to the general topic at hand, PM me. Please and thank you.

I'll try to see if I can make it, but I doubt my mother will pick me up from school and drive me two hours to San Francisco after a long day of work just for something that only I'll enjoy. ^^;
