Such as Maya, who was the 'viewers voice' when she expressed her disgust at various times, or her uncertainty about certain procedures. She was the 'concerned rational' type.
As for someone like Kensuke or Hikari, that could have been more for the viewers association habits.

i havent seen that many animes but i would vote for Asuka and Shinji or kaworu

If Asuka were hotter than Misato, even the "gentlemanly" Kaji would probably have the cradle urges. Asuka as a hot 14-year-old can't possibly taken in a comperable context to Misato the hot grown woman. Besides, they're anime characters, and none of them are really all that gorgeous in the anime (in other renderings, sure, but not there). Asking which one is hotter is like asking which is more appetizing: a single drawing of an orange or a single drawing of an apple. The only real way to judge is based on the context in the anime from discussion and description, and based on the Stooges' reactions, even despite Asuka's horrid personality towards them, Misato comes away as the clear winner.\
