My hope for 3.0/4.0 is, reality starts falling apart (something along the lines of Retake) in 3.0, and Shinji realizes he's still stuck in Instrumentality from EoE, and this is a phantasmatic world where everyone loves him. From the review.

God... Even Kaji wants to jump Shinji's bone.. I actually hope that Kaworu will be the only one who does not show any explicit sexual interest in Shinji. It would give me peace of mind. Though that "Only i can make Shinji happy" line suggests otherwise.

I seriously hope Kaji is only trying to play with Shinji's mind.

Something else:Mari really feels like she is the heroine of a self-inert Mary Sue fanfic.

-surviving the destruction of her first Eva in an improbable way
-parachuting down to the scene
-pushing an Eva into a special mode (which looks like a crude mockery of what a berserk Eva should be like, by the way) by her sheer coolness

Asuka with an eyepatch reminds me to EVIL-RE-TAKE Asuka and EOE Asuka.

This sounds absolutely epic, and for Tines' sake I'm sure all the good ol' psychobabble will be back in force for 3 and 4. Basically 2.0 is the action arc all over again, but more condensed and with BIG THINGS rather than mostly being filler while relationships take place. I'm sure the relationships do have to take a hit from the reduced time allotted, so it makes sense for Rei/Shinji to be the focus as it was already established in 1.0

Also, I'm absolutely convinced that all the -nami's are grown in batches. For all we know the dummy system that ate Asuka was based on her imprinted mind this time around.

I... need to wrap my mind around the spoilers and look at them with eyes unclouded by memories of NGE. Also, I'll try to keep an open mind until the end of Rebuild (who knows, maybe Touji will get to shine eventually?)

It does sound very interesting.
