Well, the USAn VAs for Noir managed to mispronounce it when it was in the middle of "Mireille" (It should be like Rei, as in mi-Rei-uh)

Maybe that's why the concept images of the woman in a white plugsuit are labelled "Ray".

It can not be Ray, cuz when ever I think of that, I think of some diner and the waitress is like "Hey, Ray, we need some more fried cheese" and I can't do that to Rei.

Rei is an American name too..I have seen it in a lot of movies..So why change it?

Because it's not an American name. Ray is. It may seem stupid to make that distinction, but it exists. Also, just because pronunciation is the same, that doesn't make it the same name.

Think of the Children as a trinity. If you change two of them, you should be willing to change the one that remains. Rei is as much Ray as Michael is Shinji.

Actually EoE was (content-wise) what had actually been intended for eps 25/6 until budget and other pos-ep18 constraints cut in (just 2x the length, in the movie format). D&R was the stopgap, makeweight or what have you, though.

I was kinda freaked out when I saw that Asuka's name had been changed to Kate Rose, and that she looked like somwhere in the mid 30's in the concept art... :(
Not to mention her plugsuit... *vomits*

I don't like the idea of changing the characters names/ages/personalities/nationalities... If they want to an EVA movie, why change the characters, who are a such big part of it? But these are just my thoght's, I suppose...

1. They shouldn't change any names.
2. This movie is never going to be made, so it doesn't matter.

I don't, but that's kind of beside the point. I wanted to give Asuka a Germanic name, Olga was the best name of the sort I could find for her.

Olga = fugly.
