I don't know if this time they had changed the main body of unit 00, or they just added the pylons (with the upper mobile part colored red). The only "decent" picture of that was a gashapon until now...

Damn, I forgot about that. Being stuck with yellow/orange the whole time (even if it is a little better looking than before) is just craptastic.

Twsa'teotu wrote:don't the Eva producers themselves make fun of how they "upgraded" Eva-00 by basically giving it a new paint job?

That is, most mech shows like Code Geass, when the Lancelot is "upgraded" its actually significantly different, but Eva-00 was just a new paintjob and Eva-00's head slapped onto Eva-02's body.

Although it seems to be a common trend in modern shows, not all mechs get fancy mid-series upgrades. For example, the greatest enhancement the original Gundam ever got was some better-lubed joints (oh Amuro, if only you had installed the Tem Ray circuit...).

And funny you should mention Code Geass, since the Lancelot's final upgrade was pretty much a textbook example of a bad (well, badly written) upgrade. If NGE had done the same thing, in episode 19 Rei would have emerged from underground piloting a hilariously pimped, flight-capable Eva-00 and effortlessly steamlollered over Zeruel and all the Angels after that.

technically speaking, the Lancelot's "final upgrade" was that his 7th generation original Lancelot was heavily damaged, so he switched to a new 9th generation variant of the Lancelot. but they recovered his badly damaged 7th gen, fixed it up as best they could, gave it to C-2, and painted it pink.

I guess if it were a gaudy spectrum blue and not blue-grey on her legs you'd be happier?

No, not really. I'm just generally not a fan of the color yellow (or most shades of orange and green, for that matter) except when used as highlights or for contrast.

I don't know if it's official, but it looks like it has hover legs.

I think NERV must've hired Franken Fran as a consultant to work alongside the Akagis.

Whoa. What is that crazy-ness? Whole damn thing is definitely a new type of Eva.

Also interesting to note that if this figure is official than the color of it is green, not blue or brown.

Probably just the wheel-feet in "walking mode" or something. You can see that they're in a wheel formation very clearly in other images.

Where'd you get the image? [Nevermind, I see the filename now: image board.] I went to the site on the watermark, and it's a Chinese video game site or something... The two main Eva news blogs don't even have this thing posted yet. It would seem to be the Revoltech, though, so quite official.

The green perplexes me a bit, too, though note the main body still has that sort of vague brownish cast to it.

or it's just the lighting in the tunnel that makes it seem brown

Yeah. The lighting. It's just interesting cause if that is the true color we've all spent 2 years on the wrong color scheme.

Still hard to say for sure, since the figure is being affected by the yellow lighting in the room. We still need an image of Eva-05 in "normal" lighting before we can really "calibrate" our expectations.

The main body appears a bit darker than the legs -- still kind of "brownish".

Well, if this is official......wow.

The feet remind me of...turbines. Rocket-feet-eva-rail-car-gogo? Or perhaps the feet parts rotate in some way to gear it along the rails...Or who knows.

Edit: Also, the legs have four positionable areas, which total up to the three joints of a human's leg. So essentially this thing will be able to move it's legs just as well as a human...but more insect-like. lol

Boy that thing is weird.
By the way,you can see ball joints near the feet so the feet probably turn over to become wheels.

I thought so too. However Reichu assures me they're wheels.

The wheels and feet really seem to support the idea of faster, more controllable movement in a Zero-G environment.

What's also funny is right next to me right now I have a copy of that image someone did of Eva Unit 05 based off the teaser attached to the end of 1.0. The one where it has two drills, is brown and has two legs.

My. How little we knew.

The Eva also seems to have an interesting protrusion on it's back. It would seem kinda impractical to have the pilot seat sticking out of the Eva's body where it could be easily knocked off.

I missed them at first due to the lighting, but the orange parts of the feet are on top of big black things, which are, presumably, "tires" turned on their sides.

The "drills" are forgivable -- they're probably detachable.

The Eva also seems to have an interesting protrusion on it's back.

I don't know if we can necessarily conclude that the cockpit is in the "protrusion" yet. The entry plug cavities have big "lids" over them, mind.
