Evangelion: Jo Rebuild game (PS2 & PSP) [SPOILERS]

Famitsu magazine has confirmed a new Evangelion videogame, this time based on Rebuild movies.

The title is "Evangelion: Prologue" and the release date for PS2 & PSP versions is June 4th 2009 (only in Japan, obviously).

Despite the title, it seems to cover more than the first movie, as you can see EVA-02, Israfel and even Kaworu talking to Shinji...

I hope it's going to be a bit like Evangelions 2, with some interesting scenario ramifications.

Holy shit! I'm glad this isn't an April Fool... This looks similar to Eva2. If Asuka's there I wonder if Mari is... I'm gonna order this for PSP.

Great news but I wish these games would come to the USA, but it looks like I have to import the game like I did with Jump Superstars and Ultimate Ninja 3.

I was hoping for a PS3 and Xbox360 game though. It might get a Wii port though.

From what I understand from the blurry scan, it will mix the plot of Evangelion 1.0 and that of the original TV Series. I don't know if this will work as two (or more) different, separate scenarios (kind of Evangelion 2: Another Cases system) or... a rather strange output.

Ramiel is depicted in his Evangelion 1.0 form and Asuka mentioned as Shinikami Asuka Langley, that's for sure.

Wouldn't bet on it. Aside from Petit E-V-A, the later games have all been on PS2/PSP only. If I remember right, Sony has a some connection to Bandai/Namco, so that wouldn't be too surprising* . And as for PS3 - probably too high production value.

*ed: Ah, wait, the later games were done by "Broccoli". No idea then. Or were it them with the Sony connection? Don't remember...

I bet the gameplay sucks even worse than the graphics. :nyao:

I dunno, Eva2 had pretty good graphics and gameplay. Also: http://www.evageeks.org/2009/04/new-eva-game-based-on-rebuild/

Well Bandai Namco owns the series and they can port it to any system they want. They have a few animes games for the next gen systems that sell well. If we don't get a next gen Eva then I hope Gainax will give us some Xboxlive Evangelion 2.0 stuff like Gamer pictures and layout themes.

Too bad these games won't come to American shores.

I find it really amusing that they're still making PS2 games. Apparently the PS2 is still selling better than the PS3. Poor Sony.

Since FUNI is dubbing RoE, is there a chance that this game might get dubbed?

Little to none. And by little, I mean it approaches zero. Funimation doesn't distribute games.

^- I'm not talking about distribution though. I'm talking about dubbing.

They've dubbed games before and it's been licensed and/or distributed by companies like Atari for example.

EDIT: Correct me if I am wrong please. (Not being sarcastic.)

You can't compare the popularity of DBZ or One Piece to Evangelion. Seeing as how the track record for Eva games brought to the states is 0, there's little hope this one would.

The official site of this game:

http://b.bngi-channel.jp/eva_jo/

The graphics look really cool, much better and more detailed than Evangelion 2.

Apparently, the combats now are in full 3D.

From what I understand, there will be (at least) two scenarios in the game, one covering the whole TV series story and one based on Evangelion 1.0.

It seems they mixed old and new designs...Eva-02 for example is the usual one, not the rebuild design. Not sure about the graphics...i fear they gave priority to the PSP version. BTW, Asuka is still Soryu or Shikinami?

If it's based on RoE it's Shikinami.
