Their making a 4th Spider-Man movie in 2011 and Sam Raimi wants full control of it unlike he had with the 3rd movie.

Carnage might be the next new villain. I hope to see more info soon and I'm a fan of both the movies & comics.

I haven't even seen the third movie because I "heard it sucks" and Venom doesn't get the time he deserves. And they'd just move right onto Carnage?

From what little I remember of the comics I read, Carnage/C.C. was a rather obnoxious character who just happened to look cool, and Venom/E.B. was much more interesting. Carnage was basically just a device to have Spidey and Venom team up (which was admittedly pretty cool), but he still sucked.

Perhaps not coincidentally, I stopped following the Spider-Man comics part-way through the release of the "Maximum Carnage" arc. So I don't know if Carnage got any less obnoxious after that. I assume a movie would just be covering the "when a psycho killer and a wearable alien fall in love..." origin story, though.

well, the greatness that is Topher Grace deserved better

there were other problems with Spiderman 3

one, it might as well have violated my rule against movies being longer than two and a half hours (it wasn't that long, but it felt like it)

two, it simply had too many storylines and too many villians in one movie

and, oh yeah, Bryce Dallas Howard was the Sofia Coppola of the film btw

They might have to use Venom father to add Carnage into the storyline since Venom is dead.

Or just make it a totally different simbiote* to begin with.

It's possible he wasn't killed and was just blown out the side of the building. But then again I didn't think Topher grace was really a very good choice for venom, the idea to bring in his father as another better venom might work better.

Uh no Carnage. ....yet.

Cause if there is a Carnage then that goes against EVERYTHING I've heard about Spidey 4 so far, which is artistic freedom (to a point, you can't go too far with a $200 million budget).

Because if Sam Raimi doesn't care for Venom than there's no way IN HELL he'd want to do Carnage.

Not being a hardcore Spidey fan I've enjoyed all the films to be good. The original has a great first half but the second blows. The second is overall the best but it's no classic. And the third is all over the place but i liked Emo Parker (come on, Peter's a dork, of course slicking his hair back and dressing in black strutting like a fool is his idol of "Cool") yet you could tell everything concerning Venom and the Symbiote was forced into the film and robbed Raimi of his passion for it.

So no Carnage.

I hope.

I just hope it tuns out better than Spiderman 3, which felt like some sort of fever dream in the way that it was structured.

At least the Spiderman movies have coherent plots. The lauded "The Dark Knight" lacked that important characteristic. And (gasp!) there's bound to be some character development in Spiderman 4 like we've come to expect, unlike what there was in Ironman.

Sam Raimi mention on the DVD commentary that he died from the bomb at the end of the movie.

I love Spider-Man, so if SM4 turns out great I will be a very happy fan.

3 wasn't as bad as some make it out to be. I agree that poor Venom did not get nearly enough screen time, but to be honest they did a really good job at setting him up in the little time they had.

The trouble with Venom wasn't that Eddie Brock's character was underdeveloped; it was more that the "climactic" battle with Venom was really, really lame. How many times does Spidey need to save Mary Jane anyway? It was exciting for the first two movies (and in the second it was also in order to save half of New York). A third time felt contrived.

Another thing: I would have been totally satisfied with the portrayal of Venom if they had included a few scenes of him terrorizing Mary Jane and Aunt May, really messing with Peter's head because he knows who he is thanks to the symbiote. It would not have been hard to do and would have really added to the menace of the character.

I did enjoy what they did with Harry Osborne though... That was very well done, with the lone exception being his hero's death... But I understand why they did that for the film. It was just as tragic but for a different reason.

I will see SM4.

Why did they kill Venom off, anyway? That's so... like....

I guess I should just shut up and watch the movie this weekend.

Stab yourself in the face with a Spider Man action figure instead.

You'll thank me later.

I never saw it because I heard that Kirsten Dunst has, like, 20 singing scenes.
