Sadamoto is putting out a third book, called CARMINE

Eva Store
Amazon Japan

Rapetacular price since it includes Alpha and Der Mond as well as all the new stuff from what I understand. It's actually coming out in 3 days.

I've wondered what that was.

'New stuff'? Too bad it didn't include Die Stern v. 2.0, then I'd be very interested.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see what you mean by 'new stuff.' Despite the price, I want it...Darn.

The price isn't that bad. I've seen worse, like BLAME and So On. It costs around 240-300, and I can't figure out why. Plus, it's only 147 pages.

Actually, for only 160 pages the price is a little high. Die Sterne is over 300 pages and you can find it for $40.

@Reichu: Gee, Reichu. You're losing your touch!

Not really; I was getting off my ass and contributing to the news page for a change.

Unless you were joking, but I can be a delicate flower sometimes. Plus I was never a bottomless and drain-proof pit of any and all Evangelion factoids. (That seems to surprise people, somehow.)

Hehe...

I thought for a while before posting that because I saw all the work you did on the Evapedia (and I didn't want to come across as insensitive), and the tremendous amount of time and effort you put into everything around here. But the time was right so I couldn't resist.

I would really like to buy that, as I have yet to purchase Der Mond. The platinum version sounds quite good.

I may have to save for a while though as I have recently been buying the Groundwork books, and they eat a bit of a whole in your pocket if you buy more than one at a time.

Doesn't Carmine also include both Alpha and Der Mond? I've got the latter, but not the former.
Normality is overrated

Kaworu/Asuka - give it a chance!
(Clarification - I still like Asuka/Shinji)

After reading this thread, I decided to purchase Carmine just to have Alpha and Der Mond contents compiled in a deluxe version, but it doesn't include any pic neither from Alpha nor Der Mond.
Also, except if you are a collector of limited edition stuff, the price doesn't match the contents; the overall content is equivalent to the amount appeared on Der Mond and the "extras" are not worth the extra +10,000 yen.

My advice is to wait for a regular edition (is Gainax after all, we all expect a normal edition anyways).

I guess it doesn't include all of either of the books because it's less than 200 pages. I wonder how much and what of each is being included in Carmine.

0.
It only includes works released after Der Mond. So no Wings of Honneamise, no Route 20 and only 2 pics for Fushigi no Umi no Nadia.
There's only three pics drawn expressly for the book (one for FLCL, one for Evangelion and one with some of Sadamoto's girls on motorbikes).
I don't have Die Sterne in hand to compare, but I think all the Sadamoto part in that book is compiled (at least in the non 2.0 Version, that is what I own).

The Eva Monkey wrote:Carmine sounds like a ripoff.

It is. The "two archival-quality genga" are just 2 pics included in the book (Rei and Nono) but printed in card stock. I really feel swindled...

Reichu wrote:It will compile his previous books Alpha and Der Mond with over 100 more recent illustrations from such works as Neon Genesis Evangelion (of course!), FLCL, Diebuster, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, and .hack.

I am confused. Can someone please clear this up?

Is what I'm trying to say. Reichu's statement is not true and Alpha and Der Mond are not included at all. Carmine is a brand new book with brand new contents that doesn't compile his previously released works.

She probably got it from the product description from one of those merchant sites.

Do you actually have the thing in front of you? >_>

Because you are sounding quite silly trying to say that it's only a 160 page book, a CD, and a few cards for 13,000 yen

http://www.evastore.jp/index.cgi?rm=detail&id=2226&genre=30_book&page=&key=&8%A1%E04=2%A1%DE0

Someone translate the damn moonspeak.

The proof:
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_iCnzf-y60cc/Sc2b4TgPLjI/AAAAAAAAAag/HigIdYmP-V8/s1600-h/DSC00630.JPG

That is why I'm warning you people: is a 13,000 yen book of 166 pages (30 of them the interviews) and a bunch of useless extras that doesn't compile his previously released works.

I bought it because Reichu wrote that Alpha and Der Mond were compiled (even if in the Eva Store doesn't explicitly says so) and I'm letting you know that is not true, so don't do the same mistake as I did.

But the cover looks so cool...

Anyway, thanks for the heads up.

(also, that pic of Rei is from the cover of Die Sterne)
