The shoulders are also really weird.
Maybe this Eva is actually a robot. A twist like that would be so meta.

My first thought about the long "WTF" elements are that they're weapons and not limbs. Or, since this is Eva-05 and all, and therefore batshit crazy, maybe she swaps in various weapons for limbs or something...

I'm also still dreadfully confused about the fact that the Revoltech figure's design apparently diverges from the one in both the 2.0 preview AND theatrical trailer. TMBountyHunter, we're counting on you to bless us with better images...

I somewhat agree. Unit 01 for example seems to have more of the lanky arm syndrome this time around. I mean did Revoltech really need to modify Unit 01's design in order to release another toy in time for Eva 2.0?

Or perhaps we've missed something. IN some of the screenshots that people have taken from the crappy theatrical trailer, Unit 01 does seem to have slightly different head and more lanky arms, ala just like this recent revoltech.

As for Unit 02 i see nothing wrong with that one. How is it drastically different from what we've seen so far?

EDIT:

I'm reposting this image in case people have overlooked it and don't look through this thread.

On closer inspection it looks like Eva Unit 01 now has a BLACK CHEST!!?
And Eva Unit 02 DOES have its horns.

Indeed. I was specifically referring to Eva-05. (With the entirety of that particular post.)

No, it's just the shaded areas of the purple pec plates blending into the black core cover.

A little weird that Revoltech is making another Eva-01 and not, say, an Eva-03. There's only one unannounced slot, after all, and three Evas that Revoltech hasn't announced coverage of yet. (03, 04, and 06. With 04, it doesn't matter whether we see her or not -- they have to make an action figure anyway.)

Actually, that explains a lot. It looks approximately the same color as its surroundings, which can only always be the case if it has no real color of its own.

Lets hold judgement for now. Most highly anticipated toys when initially unveiled are often cloaked in grey or shadow. You know so to keep the anticipation for the toy building.

I HIGHLy doubt that the fnal production model for the toy will feature colours this bland. A dull grey Evangelion toy WILL NOT sell well.
Not to mention it won't look good at all on the big screen. So I think it very unlikely that Eva Unit 05 will be a dull grey.

Use your heads! Common sense people!

Dull grey? or MAGNIFICENT SILVER? Come on, silver/gray robot toys sell all the time!

Example please? Dull grey and "magnificent" silver are totally different things. And anyways we were all working under the assumption that when referring to grey, no highlights. No nice green or orange markings either.

Essentially an unpainted model.

Of course i doubt Kaiyodo would be stupid enough to release a figure like that!

I don't think an earth brown model would be that popular either.

Awesome.
A thought that just struck me: Could that thing on it's back possibly be the seat? That would make this a very small unit, which doesn't seem entirely unreasonable considering it's physique is already radically different from the other Evas. This would explain that helmet seen in the recent trailer.

I'm holding out for a Soul Spec version of these figures......

They did 00 and 01, as well as 00', 01 and 02 of the TV series, so I'm counting on them doing the Rebuild 2:0 as well. ^_^

I hate to say it, but I really don't like that head. Hopefully it won't look so grody when animated and in color.

I agree with you, it does not look..Eva-esk to me if you can follow me on that. The arms are far to far out, not Human at all.

Lol the cone head is funny. I agree hopefully there is a smidge less gaudiness in the actual movie. I wonder if this EVA will focus on like long range? Just my speculation

Soul Fire wrote:When looking at the preportions and shape of the arms in the pics in the link, I get the impression that it is a girls arms. They look very defined and shapely.l. Due to the helmet and odd design of Unit 05 ( the very limited views we have of it ), it could be an Eva specialised for long range combat, but again all I have to go on is the helmet, which suggests at least some kind of specialised role.
Meh

I completely agree with this Idea. I think Soul Fire is on track with this. I have also come to this conclusion and I mentioned it in the article on the new revlotech toys. The trailer shown at the end of 1.0 denotates this to with the large gun looking things it seems to have attached to its arms.
