Am I the only one who thinks that Sho sounded like an organ when she roared prior to slaughtering Sachiel? I know the original was always the best, but still...
"Crapsack worlds and anti heroes have their place. Sometimes, they are very necessary. But an endless diet of dreary cyberpunk and dark fantasy won't do us any more favors than an endless feast of glurge. I'd argue that the cynical nature of these really hurt our ability to hope and work for better. It gets us to accept the hopelessness and jaded outlook of things as 'That's the way it is. I can't change it,' and stops us from fighting when we NEED to fight."

The roars in Rebuild sound the same as in the original. There's this mechanical-sounding thing at first, but then the roars are all like they were before.

Actually in the scene where Unit-01 fighting Sachiel doesn't unit-01 show more grunts, grows, and what not when compared to the original scene?

I think Reichu had written in the Eva Commentary Project (not sure where) that you can actually do that roar yourself. All you need is some voice-twisting computer program.
If all the world hated you, and believed you wicked, while your own conscience approved you, and absolved you from guilt, you would not be without friends. -Jane Eyre, Chapter 8

The roars sounded less mechanical but... not something you would expect an Eva to sound like.

I'm not sure what version of NGE everyone is listening to (original roars =/= dubbed roars), but the 1.0 roaring is by far more "mechanical" than the original. I wonder if I'm going to need to make some sound clips here...

I'd say go for it. It'd be a lot easier for people to make very quick comparisons.

I didn't like it. All the grunting was too much for me.

Makes me cringe to think about the Zeruel fight.

Yeah, I believe that the original roars were part of the Japanese voice track, so they had to re-create them for the dub.
"We rode on the winds of the rising storm,
We ran to the sounds of thunder.
We danced among the lightning bolts,
And tore the world assunder."

I didn't like Yui's new voice at all. The mechanical sound took away from what made the original so creepy and effective, the contrast to the "robot". It was raw, organic, animalistic -- berserk.

The roar for Eva 01 in 1.0 isnt totally bad.But I'd would of perfered that they kept the Japanese roar instead of getting some guy to do it.The Japanese roar gives you the feeling that the Eva is more human then robot like the series. The english one sounds, just meh.
