I don't know if anyone's shown these yet, but....

They look pretty convincing to me, and match whats been shown in the preview trailer for Rebuild 2:0.

They're both by a fan artist at Pixiv* named Taro Numa; just extrapolations based on what's shown in the trailer, and nothing official. (Though it's amazing how much the guy eked out of that one barely-visible cut of Eva-05...) Both were posted a while back in this thread, along with Numa's other takes on the Rebuild Evas.

* Pixiv is sort of like the Japanese version of deviantArt, except you can barely do anything at the site unless you register. The majority of Japanese fan artists, along with a decent number of professionals, have accounts there. Since the site launched, it's been the source of a sizable percent of the fan art that gets reposted across the Interbutts -- definitely a staple of image boards.

I don't know if I like the new Eva's unless 05 is a special purpose Eva for say Drilling "TTGL?"

If that is Kaworus, what about the one that blows up..I want to see him pilot that some more like he did in those videos.

They've chopped that poor eva's hands off.

I realise they have massive plugs full of children bore into their spines but come on! That's just cruel.

Maybe eva 05 was a Saudi pick-pocket in a past life...

Geez, judging from fans these days you'd think mecha and large conical apparatuses were never once utilized in combination prior to 2007...

If that is Kaworus,

Eva-06 is the rather more likely candidate, since it is said to descend from the Moon together with its pilot.

what about the one that blows up..

It, er, "blows up"?

Have they? ...What do you see, in these shitty DVD captures?

I'm thinking the thicker parts are more like sleeves/handguards (there is a very forearm-ish look the back half) and the hinged struts above connect to the pylons to support the weight of those drill/lance things.

Watch the animated GIF carefully and pay close attention to the negative space created by the moving background (to compensate for the details on the Eva being dark and muddy). I don't know WTF those weird 'mantis arms' are supposed to be, but they are what actually attach to the Eva's shoulders, and the 'claws' of the 'mantis arms' can be seen going through the 'handles' of the lance/drill-things.

It's fucked up and it makes no sense. As far as I can tell, anyway. Maybe clearer images will reveal that Eva-05's design concept isn't *totally* retarded, and the actual arms are just obscured or concealed in the shitty screencaps of this cut. But Yamashita is also insane, so I'm not keeping my hopes up.

The those look awesome even for Fan Art. I think those things on Unit 05 arms might be a weapon use in a combat in the second movie and I do like the Drill idea for it arms IMO.

Look at the lighter triangle shape that 'pulls out' of the back of the 'sleeve' part... I think that's an elbow. Note that the background lights do not pass through the space behind the drill after that pulls back.

Support struts come straight down from the pylons, arms are pulled backward and bent, hidden by the torso.

Maybe you can do some markup on a screencap like I did here. Even if it's just a few labeled arrows, it would be a big help (less of that "staring at an ink blot in search of what somebody else saw" feeling).

On closer inspection (playing with contrast/brightness) what I was looking at seems to be part of the leg.

Nevermind... weird spindly mantis arms it is.

The "boot" of the pelvic plate, probably. The little triangle to the right of it (or to Eva-05's left) is probably part of the left knee-thingy. ("?" and "L KNEE" on my shitty markup, respectively.)

Couple of things Numa missed: There's a thin vertical strut coming out of the bottom of the "elbow" (visible in a couple of frames, when light-colored background zips behind it), and he's given Eva-05 a more typical behind-the-neck setup as opposed to the tall, weird thing (like a mini-pylon, almost) it's depicted with.

Gawd, I've watched that animated GIF more times than I care to think. What a crappy DVD.

The arms are quite decidedly discontinuous. Better contact the mental hospital and prepare Yamashita a strait jacket...
It also interests me that they've done away with eyes entirely...was four eyes on EVA-02 just not weird enough for them?

The grey one looks awesome, sorta like 01 refit with the standard chest design and a visor just for style's sake.

The coneheaded one... decidedly less so.

In the trailer they show Eva-06's eyes lighting up beneath the visor.

Drill arms? Really? Sad part is, fanartist or not, he may be right...
