Well duh Rachel. You were saying you didn't recall what was in which ones, so I pulled out mine and checked. The Groundwork for the movies is fairly self explanatory.

I took a video of the the book, cover to cover. Its over 20 megs. I need to go over to the mac labs and compress it down in Final Cut Pro.

It should give people an idea of what a groundwork book is like.

Basically. When I figure out how to compress this video properly, I'll post it. For some reason, whenever I compress it, it looks like shit, and is larger than the original. I'm questioning whether Final Cut Pro is really that bad at video compression, cause I think I've gone insane.

I just bought Groundwork of Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone which is 328 pages long. It cost me 47 dollars. I bought it in the Japancenter in San Francisco, California. They were also selling bootleg copies of the new movie. All of the text is Japanese in this book and most of the pages are filled with illustrations.

never heard of this artbook, but still, 328 pages of NGE art? Damn. Depending on how much is text, at $47 i'd call that a steal, compared to Der Mond or the comparable 100 page artbook for $30ish.

I wouldn't mind seeing some scans, but there may be an archive of them (or most of them) already up somewhere. anyone know?

I've never found an archives online of the Groundwork Movies (Death/Rebirth and EoE). The closest I found to any groundwork book online was volume 1 with stuff from the series and I think even then it was only a few pages up.

Would appreciate any of the Rei-centric pages from the new groundwork book greatly.

Yeah, they have the Shinji on top of naked Rei scene hand drawn frame for frame in my book and they have Rei putting the plug suit on. I'm never done a scan before, so what DPI setting should I do? I am almost tempted to record at the highest resolution possible with my scanner since this is a freshly opened book and there is not a single blemish in any of the pages. Also, how do I scan pages without damaging the book?

I have an HP PSC 2200 printer.

Ouuuu.

Are there any pictures of Rei's book or the stuff in Terminal Dogma as well?

System Shocker wrote:I'm never done a scan before, so what DPI setting should I do?

Between 200dpi and 300dpi is the usual range for high-res scans shared online.

Ah, but are there any blemishes on your scanner bed?

System Shocker wrote:Also, how do I scan pages without damaging the book?

If it has a sewn spine you can just pop it on the scanner without really worrying. If it has a glued spine you have the problem of it being less flexible than a sewn one which means, assuming you want to scan the entire width of the page, that you have to apply pressure to get the same results, but then! there's the added problem that pressing down on it like that damages the book.

I'd say just do your best without damaging the book. I don't think folks are going to complain about dark and blurry bits towards the gutter when they know you want to preserve and enjoy your book yourself!

Yeah, they have a few pages of Lilith in terminal dogma. I don't know what you mean by "Rei's book." Is it the one thats all in German? I thought that was supposed to be after Asuka comes into the show.

Eventually I'm going to upload a .zip file or .rar file on megaupload.

Nice scans! ^_^

Groundwork is cool with how they have books of that sorta thing and all, I'm just not 100% interested in it. I like looking at some of the pictures though.
