Posts annihilated. We'll have none of that.

Any more low brow humor will be promptly baleted from this topic.

Don't make me close this. Seriously. Cause I would like a good anti-Rei thread.

Ok lets give this another try, seeing as the monkey was kind enought to not lock us.

Why do you think Ritsuko was so hostile tword Rei jelous over gendos feeling tword her perhaps ?

If so do you think her fears were grounded?

Me I think that dispite the good doctors insistance that relations between men and women were illogical, she loved gendo. This is clear as day to any one watching the show.

I think that she must have resented ( much like her mother did ) being in Yui's shadow, and projected that onto Rei.

The thing that im sure will shock some people reading this is im not going to attack gendo now. :D

I don't think she really had anthing to worry about, because I'm convinced Gendo cared for her, and wasn't robbing the cradel on the side.

I'd love to show you this image I found of a mutilated Rei, internal organs on display. Ew.

No. Gendo didn't care for Rei at all, emotionally speaking. If at all, it would be her closeness to Yui that Gendo was attracted to. Gendo had shut himself off completely from everyone else, because had he any earthly attachments, it would jeapordize his ultimate goal.
In addition, he purposefully kept Rei isolated from the rest of the world, and kept her very close to him. A sort of way to crush her free will and to gain her loyalty. Not something you do to someone you care for.

While I didn't mind the I.D. card scene, there is such a thing as too much Rei.

First off

While I didn't mind the I.D. card scene, there is such a thing as too much Rei.

Amen obesssion is bad people.

If Gendo felt nothing why did he take a moment to speak to DR akagi before shoting her? If he feel nothing why not kill her with out a word?

In general I do think poorly of gendo but I do recognise his humanity, and ten years with some one your going to have feeling on way or another. It's not in human nature to have NO emotions.

I didn't say Gendo had no emotions, I said he denied himself emotional attachments to other as best as he could. Something I said earlier:
GOCP wrote:Gendo developed a train of thought in which he made a commitment to his plan of reuniting with Yui, everything else that happens on Earth while he's still there, will stay there. He grew isolated and cold to almost everyone around him, because he was afraid of forming any relationships as long as he's on Earth, lest he betrays his own plan layed out before him. He wasn't evil, just human.

Get it? It's simple.

I'd like to see that pic (if it's not the pink one with Rei hanging from the cross which I already have), as Rei is a beacon of diviness even when dismembered.

Far too bland. This is the G-Man we're talking about. I don't think anything sappy came out of that man's mouth.

Now THIS, on the other hand...

For some reason that makes a sick kind of sence, and the smiling Rei is cool too.

Yeah, it's a pity she's not doing this in the actual show, otherwise we could be, like, 95% sure this is what Gendo actually said.

Anyway, it's the best candidate for his missing line, IMO... You can see the reasoning behind it here (and the pages that follow).

From the look on her face before she decided it was a lie, I've always thought that it was something that made her briefly question her recent actions. Perhaps he was denying turning her over to Seele as Rei's substitute.

It's still sound a heck of a lot better than 'I truly loved you', that's for sure.
