I can't wait to see these bad girls in action.

The next couple of Rebuild movies are really starting raise the bar. Hope Anno and friends don't screw this up.

(Updated my last post with a nifty animation and stuff.)

Jinroh wrote:And about eva06, I've always known it had normal proportions. I remember the last discussions where everyone was fantasizing about its long size, etc... It was just some kind of weird effect for the trailer.

I wouldn't call it a "fantasy"... The composite, redone with screenshots from the DVD sized to the correct aspect ratio:

(If anyone includes the above image in a quote, they die. Full-sized and unbrightened version here.)

These proportions really are quite ridiculous. I hope it's not what Eva-06 usually looks like -- Eva-05 is wacky enough! The way the torso flares out in the middle still bothers me, too.

Yeah but as I said it might be some kind of silly effect to make its appearance last longer. It would be quite stupid if she really had those weird proportions...

Did they just shift the nostril holes off to where a normal human (i.e. Lilin) would have ears? Wow.

And Eva-06's length is absurd.

Ah, I see what you mean now. That is possible, and maybe not without precedent. There was this one shot in episode 03 that has Shamshel whooshing through the screen, and, when I tried to composite Shamshel, she ended up being ridiculously "stretched out".

I don't think those are nostril holes. Maybe vents.

I really love those mock ups of the Evas where they're just standing against a white background. People here have posted up ones for Evas 02, 05, and 06. Are there or does anyone have similar equal quality mock ups of Evas 00, 01, and 03? I just want to have those all sitting in a file on my computer somewhere.

Ones for Eva-01 and Eva-00 (from multiple angles) have been released officially, but, somehow or other, I don't have any that either don't look like crap or aren't in B&W. Maybe someone at THAT BOARD has them, or they're somewhere in Ornette's Archive from Hell.

For Eva-03: Looks exactly the same as the original, except with a white waistband. I've got a large scan of the preexisting design that could just be doctored.

Does EVA-02 have a slightly altered head design (I seem to see two protruding horn-like objects in the preview), or was it like that all along?

Actually I think you'll find that Matt Greenfield directed, produced and animated Neon Genesis Evangelion and End of Evangelion.

Well the new one came from the moon,so that means it was built on the moon and probably Kaworu is the one who's piloting it. (last scene?)

Sooooo, yeah it should look pretty cool.

I like all the new designs, especially 02Image (even with what little it shows). I even like 06, except it has no neck.

05 looks absolutely ridiculous. The head confuses the hell out of me, the damn joust hands/arms, and why is it moving on a track like a bumper car. It looks too robot/gundam to me and I don't like that.

Also....

I really would like to know what he is making this face at, hopefully he makes this face more often, which would signify that he now grows some balls in 2.0

He made that face in the original show. It's from when he's pounding on Zeruel before his battery runs out.

I love that bit btw. Shinji really looks like he has gone bonkers there

I bet 2.0 ends where Ep 19 ends

I mean, what would be better cliffhanger ending?

I dunno, I mean, things like that work a bit different for a movie. There are only going to be three inter-'episode' junctions this time. That raises the bar for how each one is allowed to end. Even in the series, Shinji's tanging turned out not to be too big a deal.

On the other hand, if they throw in something to expand it to world implications and really drive home the potential fallout, that would be pretty cool.

Like, if the movie doesn't end right after Eva-01 eats Zeruel, but rather continues so that the final drama of the movie is about reigning in Eva-01 and preventing it from starting the apocalypse right then and there. Maybe it even gets as far as starting to grow wings of light or something before a valiant effort from Eva-06 or whoever stabs it full of crosses to quiet it down. Maybe even some badass half-god Eva-01 vs other Evas action. And then even when they stop it they still have, as you say, the cliffhanger ending of Shinji's fate being left up in the air.

In that way it might go down in Eva history as the Empire Strikes Back ending of the Rebuild series, except with tang instead of carbonite.
