Sephiroth-Giant sword, seraph form, psychotically evil
Krauser-The only boss who can actually go toe-to-toe with me
Solus-You run scared from him all through Breakdown then slam him face-down into the ground. :pwnd:
Any hero on the stronghold levels of Dark Crusade; not hard, but still cool
Liquid Snake-Waited the whole game to beat him down, worth it.

The knife fight with Krauser is the best knife fight in the history of anything. Ever.

I'm really surprised Bowser from the Mario games hasn't been mentioned much. Although he's generally never that hard to beat, he's a classic.

Although all it is is "X" "Square" "R1-L1" "O" "OX"

The second fight is hard, but like I said: If you know how to beat them, it's easy.

What about that pink thing with a bow that vomits eggs at Mario? Those guys really pissed me off...

Haha, man this is great so far! I have a few.

Ruby Weapon - FFVII. This guy was a total HOLE. To be honest? I've demolished FFVII, but I can't seem to beat this guy.

Omega Weapon - FFVIII. Took me several tries but it just feels awesome once you finally beat him.

The Goddess - Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete. Highly emotional. Very cool.

Shin Akuma - Capcom Vs. SNK: Millenium Fight 2000. I'm good at Street Fighter, and oh my freaking FACE was he a PAIN.

I second Kefka, but I'm more of a Sephiroth fan personally. My wife loves Kefka MOAR so we argue about it sometimes :toothy:

And has anyone played Tales of Phantasia? The bosses in that game are SERIOUS.

What about Emerald? Fucker has 1,000,000 HP and you need to kil him in 30 minutes

He was freakin' hard to beat!! One hit knock-outs, lightning fast punches, barley any time to attack.

slothen: There are Boos in the Mario games that are actual bosses. If memory serves, you have to beat a Big Boo at the end of the ghost houses in Super Mario World, and the ghost house level in SM64 has a Big Boo as a boss, too. At least, I think so...

TAO: The egg-spitting dino-whatever is Birdo.

The boss that comes to my mind is Ultimate Being from Parasite Eve. Not because I think he's cool or anything, but because he CREEPS... ME... OUT. :convulses in remembrance:

There were various bosses in Metroid Prime 2 that I really hated. Too bad I only remember the names of two of them. Emperor Ing and Dark Samus, were they? They were all mean and they killed me often.

Sephiroth shouldn't get onto the list just because he's too popular and he's a raging evil bishie stereotype. Flout convention and put Jenova instead, because evil aliens with an eye where a nipple should be are just... I'm not sure what.

Damn, my memory is gone. And I used to play video games all the time.

@Reichu's comment about boos - Yeah, there was one in Super Mario World in the Donut Plains secret ghost house. I think it was a hidden boss in the alternate exit.

I never played Parasite Eve. I just now looked up some Youtube videos of it. All I can say is that it’s one of the most FUCKED UP things I’ve ever seen.

So are we just nominating or are we going to vote?

:hitthetable:

@Rooster: Oh, is that how it went? I just remember this room and throwing blocks at him. Need to play those games again sometime... Bet it would all come back really fast. (EDIT: YouTube video. Not emu-captured, so quality isn't very good.)

There is a Big Boo boss of sorts in 64. Here he is getting pwnd by a door.

3 hits is the golden rule. Also one time I made my sister play that level of mario 64 and she walked right into the chomping piano and it was HILARIOUS!

Hey, Jenova would be a good candidate. Actually, there are a couple of great villains from FFVII who are so often forgotten in the wake of Sephiroth.

The reason I didn't list Emerald Weapon is because I personally haven't had much trouble beating him unless I was doing a speed run... But I can see him being on the list thanks to the time limit and vast HPs.

I also nominate Liquid Snake, because anyone who's played Metal Gear Solid knows that that bastard just... wouldn't... die.

Which even in subsequent games that can be partially true.

I hate to resurrect such an ancient thread, but I couldn't find a news thread or any other place for something like this. Kotaku recently contacted me for an interview for an article they were writing about Everquest that involved the greatest boss:
