Before JA's activation when Misato walks out and Shinji & Pen Pen just stop.
Harpy fight, like watching a fighting movie or listening to Song 2, until the eating starts...
Instrumentality, I'm aware it's around 2 hrs total including the movie. Who cares, it shows the characters as they truly are and what they might have become.

That's just a phenomenal shot, great direction. Very indicative of the best aspects of silent film.

Another great one: Ep. 21, Misato hearing Kaji's message, and the piano ballad version of Fly Me to the Moon. Gets me every time. ;_; :crybaby:

Another great Misato/Kaji moment is in 15 and him walking her home.

I found it really dramatic, when Rei sacrifices herself and "Thanatos" song is playing in background.

There's so many. :)

I have three favorite scenes from "NGE."

1. The final scene in "Hedgehog's Dilemma." It shows that their is some sexuel tension, but they will not gross that line. I remember you hear that voice in the backround talking about staying within the line, so you don't get hit by the train. That line is what seperates Shinji and Misato from each other, and the train represents the consequences that they will suffer, if they cross that line with each other. It's also one of the most emotional scenes that I have ever seen in any medium. Misato is about to leave, but something stops her. She looks back, sees Shinji. Shinji raises his head up, and says "I'm home." Then Misato says, "Welcome Home." My heart stoped, because it was so brilliantly executed. It is easily the most perfect episode. It's also some of the best character developement that I'v seen.

2. Kaworu's farewell in episode "24." Kaworu makes the biggest impact in the whole series, and he's only in it for about 15 minutes. He's mysterious, yet very profound. He's open with his emotions, and expressed them in a way, that can overwhelm anybody. He is the turning point for Shinji's emotional state. He is forced to make the hardest decision in his life, and he chose to kill his best friend. Anno uses Beethoven's 9th symphony in the most powerful moment. Infact, his whole usage of classical music rises anything by Stanley Kubrick, and Andrei Tarkovsky. He creates a sense of peace during the most depressing, and disturbing moments. Shinji is about to kill the one person who truly loved him, and Beethoven's 9th brings a lot of solace to Shinji's decision. I didn't know whether to cry, or to just smile during that whole sequence. It was beautiful.

3. Asuka's mental breakdown. After all of that tough girl act, Asuka is finally taken off her pedestal. And not only that, we finally get to know what really goes on in her head, and what made into such a biotch. I liked Asuka, but this scene made me love her, and sympathize for her. I also love how Asuka never tried to look too vulnerable around people, and always kept them at arms length. She didn't want to talk about her mothers death, and kept trying to keep it out of her psyche. And in the end, it's an Angel that forces her to face the past. It's an Angel that confronts her demons, and reveals them to her. It's just on example on how an artist should express his thoughs, and feelings on film. Amazing. :)

I also have three favorite scenes from "End Of Evangelion. :boingy:

1. This is my favorite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6o8g6e6ILY&feature=PlayList&p=7A58622541338B32&index=34

2. This is my second favorite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iH32Chen5Vo

3. This is my third favorite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ai2wZR7YEb0
The fate of destruction is also the joy of rebirth.

"Komm Susser Todd" is the most up-lifting song about depression"- Evangelion217

It's stange that "Evangelion" became such a hit. All the characters are so sick!- Hideaki Anno

Theres a lot, especially in EoE. For one that has been said yet. The scene at the end of, 13 where Ritsuko starts talking about her mother and the Maji. I'm not a huge Ritsuko fan, something about those scenes.

The program that was installed in Casper,
was the one of my mother as a woman and she stayed a woman
to the very end. How totally like my mother.

My top 3:

1: Shinjis and misatos farewell in eoe, im quite and attched person so goodbyes and stuff in movies always upset me a bit.

2: When Gendo intiates the dummy plug system in unit 1, i thought the sudden change into a warrior was pretty cool.

3: A tie between Rei's monologue and Asukas mind rape, i always found these scenes very deep and interesting.

IT'S STILL BETTER THAN THE CURRENT PILOT!

Great stuff, I really liked how that scene shows how different a battle is when Misato is at the wheel compared to Gendo.

Misato trys every option, Gendo gets the job done whatever the cost, i liked it as it showed gendos personality quite well.

unit 01 eating zeruel. When I saw that, NGE was the only anime I had ever seen, I had started the series earlier that day. Everytime I rewatch that scene, it brings back the awesome. Every time, it makes me shudder and get goosebumps.

Absolutely. That was the first moment that I knew NGE was something special, and I don't know if a single scene in film (until EoE) ever had me THAT riveted and in shock and disbelief. What's so great is the phenomenal build up. Shinji screaming and pleading for it to move... it's just.... wow.

Subtitles

Shinji: Move, move, move,
move, move, move, move, move, move, move,
move, move, please move!
If you don't move now, if I don't do it now,
everyone's going to die!
I couldn't stand that any more.
So, please move!

The dub was a bit different. From memory...

Move, move, move please move! Oh come on you've got to move now, move or everyone will be killed, oh God I'm sick of it already!

my first time I saw it dubbed and damnit I think the dub team and the translators did a great job with that scene. It really connected with how I felt at that point. Till then it had been such an emotional rollercoaster, especially after unit 02 was decapitated and unit 00 attacked with the n2 at point blank. Suddenly everything was great and Shinji was kicking ass, and then the carpet was yanked out. The "oh God I'm sick of it already!" was just absolutely perfect. I got a little shudder just thinking about it.

Iron Rooster: No prob.

Too many to count. Ones off the top of my head, in no real order:

1) Asuka's mindrape in 22'

2) Rei's monologe in 14

3) Coffee pot scene in EoE, as well as the whole Pre-Instrumentality sequence (actual Instrumentality with the "breakup lines" is just weird. ;) )

4) EoE: Shinji rejecting Instrumentality sequence (from him asking Rei where they are to him saying "Because my feelings were real." But Yui-sama doing cool stuff was great, too.)

5) Shinji and Yui parting ways, EoE

6) Both final scenes (EoTV, EoE)

7) "Kisu yo. Kisu." :asuka_thumbsup:

8) Any of the character introspection scenes, espeically the personal hell train motif.

9) I'm not sure which is "more" moving: when Kaji and Misato get back together with their kiss in ep.15, or Misato crying during his death. Both work well though.

10) Comedy-wise, my favorite bit of humor is probably Shinji flustered about his thermal expansion at the onsen after Misato teases Asuka.

I have a lot...

I liked the part where Shinji sees "Yui" save him and the subsequent scene where Shogouki rips herself out of Leliel, and there's blood everywhere, and everyone just like

:scared:

when Shinji catches Asuka in magmadiver

entire fight w/ bardiel, including Shinji/Gendo argument

When Ritsuko destroys the Reis and conversation after/during

Naoko attacking Rei I

I've mentioned this before, but Fuyutsuki is a champ at narration, all of epi 21 with him narrating was great.
