You know, I think she's the only character in the show who ever is shown playing video games that I can remember. Judging by that game disk in the pic, I think Asuka likes fighting games.

Hyuga is a grown kid. He might be a challenger to Asuka...if he actually plays console games.

Depends on the video-game style:

RPGs: Shinji, because he'd have the patience to unlock the secret caves, mysteries and stuff and actually to pay attention to the dialogs and see where he has to go next.

Fight/Kick ass games: Asuka hands down. The girl has the "'i'm gonna go kick this Mr. Garrison's ass!" in her blood. XDD
So yeah.

Horror/fighting: Pen-Pen because he is cool like that.

Sims: Gendo because he is secretly a lover of these kind of games. XD

Based on this one trading card picture I've seen floating around the 'net, I think the REALLY quiet one, Rei, would end up being surprisingly good at it. (Sort of like Ami in Episode 8 of Pretty Solider Sailor Moon.)

But I agree Shinji would be great at RPGs while Asuka would be good at fighting games.

You know, I hear kids born in the 1980's are better at video games on average than kids born in the 90's and later. They grew up with all the classics, like the NES. So according to that logic, Misato, Ritsuko, and Kaji should all be better than any of the pilots.

Kind of hard to press the A button when your finger is many times larger than the control pad.

Asuka would win at fighting games due to the super competative streak in her.

Shinji would be her victim. (Probably loose on purpose if he did get close to beating her ever.)

Rei would stare at the opposite wall and recite incoherent poetry.

Misato would turn it into a drinking game and take a chug every time Asuka won.

This is a surprisingly complex question when you think about it...

Misato = driving, or any sort of racing game like Wipeout or Micro Machines.

Kaji = Metal Gear, Syphon Filter and the James Bond games in their various incarnations (maybe even something like Dino Crisis or the Jurassic Park game 'cause those had an element of stealth to them).

Maya = as long as it isn't violent or icky she'll be fine! Cute platform games like Giana Sisters suit her (maybe that's not the best example 'cause it had those horrible goddamned spiders at the end of some levels).

Aoba = Parappa, Vib Ribbon, Rez, DDR, and all those sorts of rhythm games.

Hyuga = dating games, where he gets to play out his fantasies surrounding Misato.

Gendo = strategy games - things like Civilisation. Real-time strategy games like C&C and to a lesser extent Cannon Fodder perhaps.

Depends. I'm rubbish at fighting games apart from the Soul Calibre series - some fighting games you can mash the buttons and still win, but in others you can only win if you stay calm and have finesse - knowing the framedata for each move and how each move can be translated into another quickly.

I have no idea what sort of games Rei would play. Maybe because of her military training she'd be good at lightgun games...

Thinking about it I think Rei would be unnaturally good at shmups (she could play Mushihimesama with her eyes closed) or anything else insanely technical like invisible tetris.

Ritsuko would just hack any game on the fly and win (unfairly) every single time. My vote goes to Ritsuko.
