there's a new volume of manga out by Mayoco Anno called [buncha Kanji] (Negligent Supervision Report?). It seems to be about her husband, Eva creator Hideaki Anno, and the couple's new baby!

there are two 6-page chapters online for viewing here.

Info here and here. It seems that you can buy a special edition that comes with a keychain of Anno and baby.

EDIT: this is not about Anno and his baby, but Anno and his wife, who (bizarrely) draws herself as a baby.

On the brightside I guess we can all expect a new Eva-esque series--in about 20-24 years :)

Awe, leave the poor kid alone! Maybe he'll be fine. Maybe Mayoco won't let Hideki near him. Yes do that.

Edit: I appologise for my presumtion that the child is male

Four things come to mind on hearing this.

1.) If the kid is named Rei or Shinji Anno's still got issues.

2.) I hope Anno can find it in himself to bee a good father.

3.) WHat's the kids name ?

4.) >self centered fan boy moment< Get if Anno didn't like wacko fans bothering him after EVA he's not going to but a child at risk of crazies. Their goes the 1% chance we had for another series .

I am telling you, just wait until the kid is old enough to direct--you'll get your sequel :)

And im sure it will work as well as frank hurberts son writing new " dune " books.

On a side note I know we have a few people on the boards that understand Japanese. I humbly ask them to translate this tiny six page comic for the good of the boards, and so Mr. Monky can add them to the sight for archiving.

I have a feeling that Anno having a baby will be a good thing.

Given that most of his problems were a feeling of uselessness at Gainax, and given that he's very successful these days as an established director, I would say he's past it. In fact, you can see he's been past it since 98. He didn't want His and Her Circumstances to be serious, he wanted it to be comedic. Thats the initial friction that resulted in his estrangement from that production.

Or Yuko, or Asuka, for that matter...

Different issues, but issues, still.

But I would hope that Mrs Anno would have something to say on the naming front.

Miyamura Yuko was Asuka's VA.

The story circulates that Anno was infatuated by her, but was rebuffed; hence some of the harsher Shinji (as Anno's SI)/Asuka parts of EoE.

I really do hope that was just more internet spawned grabage. Every thing I hear about anno form people that have meet him is that hes a good natured otaku ( sp ? ) these days, and thats not this kind of thing he'd do.

I can't help but wonder though cuz eva's got a lot of darkness to it in a lot of places, and that did come from the man. Then again so did re: cutie honey so I think we're safe.

Back on topic: I hope Anno's over his demons now and ready to be a daddy.
