Back 2001 I was diagnosed with type1 diabetes.Type1 means I have to take injections of insulin every day or I fall into a coma and die.
Type2s are more lucky.All they have to do is watch their weight and take pills.Since im a little over weight(dead on 200)I have to take more than one shot a day.

As it stand now I have to take three injections of insulin
at breakfast,lunch,and dinner after every meal.At 10:00PM I take 45 units of lantus(another type of insulin).

I can take my shots in my thighs,upper arms,lower back,belly,and ass(really).99.9% of the time it's in my belly.I dile up and give myself
my own shots and yes it hurts every time.

It affected my school work too.The stress would make my blood sugar levels go crazy and I'd have to call my mom so she could bring me a shot
and get it under control.

That's why I had to quit school.I didn't follow through with my home schooling so I guess I fall in the "drop out" catagory.But hey I love reading!That count's right?

Also recently I got a nasty sinus infection.Im getting over it thank god.

I'm happy to say that for the most part, I'm one healthy fella. I've had one cold, and the flu once in the last five years. Although I did give myself a hernia a couple of months back trying to lift 16 gallons of milk at once (I did it, btw). And then it became strangulated, which sucks some serious ass.

I feel for ya. I passed Kidney Stones a couple of years back myself after I became severely dehydrated (almost killed me). I only got Vicodin for mine though, and we've been best friends ever since.

I know someone who had an insulin monitor/pump installed recently. The technology is getting interesting, at least.

Yeah, I'm aware of that. Paxil and Effexor are known for the worst withdrawal problems, although by legal and medical standards no SSRI antidepressant is considered "addictive," because when you give it to monkeys, they won't seek out more like they will cigarettes. Gets the pharmaceutical companies out of a lot of lawsuits.

Planning on trying to get off of this stuff by the end of the year, since the latest studies seem to indicate that staying on it for about 6 months will make relapses less likely, and even then I'll be easing off the dosage very slowly. Doctors don't tell you explicitly about the withdrawal because no-one would go on the drugs in the first place.

The funny thing is that despite their name, SSRI antidepressants don't really work all the time on depression, apparently... they're great on anxiety though. And my symptoms were almost entirely physical... I was surprised it worked at all.

interestingly enough, my asthma is aggravated only when I have a bacterial or viral infection like the flu or strep. I'm glad its not on my face, but even so I bet it would of aggravated my asthma anyway.

Effexor was what it was. I've heard horror stories about Paxil too. I think they finally took that off the market. I loved it though (they gave it to me for migraines, go figure). It didn't help, but it was still nice.

Paxil's still out there, but there's been a class action lawsuit because it's so hard to get off of. Don't think that will stop them prescribing it.

I was on Effexor for about 4-5 days. That stuff really shouldn't be the first thing doctors try -- it had me knocked out on the couch all day.

More to the point, getting prescribed this stuff during a 15 minute consult with your family doctor can mess you up. (I know it did for me). The therapy component, especially at the start, is really helpful.

I'm pretty much healthy. My cholesterol is a little above normal, nothing a little exercise can't fix ;)

But that pretty much it.

I spent all of yesterday totally sick, so for some reason I decided to look for a "sick thread". Wonder how I missed this the first time.

Almost all of my problems appear to be psyc--, er, neurological. Asperger's Syndrome (which no sane parent should want vis child to have), chronic depression, anxiety, and "ADHD" (I always just thought the attention problems were an outgrowth of the AS; I need to ask about this one sometime...); I've had one definitive manic episode. These quirks all seem to be genetic in origin, so I'm going to be popping pills for the foreseeable future.

Since Effexor was mentioned, I'm on the extended release version (prescribed, if very vague memory serves, after Zoloft stopped working), and I've never had any problems with it that I can recall.

Physically, I have near-sightedness, relatively temperamental sinuses, and a somewhat... inconsistently performing lower intestinal tract. Just got my latest physical, and the only stand-out is low HDL ("good") cholesterol, which can be increased with physical exercise. (But I already knew I needed more of that...) I don't get sick very often, and it tends to be nothing more than a cold or sinus infection that incapacitates me for a day or so (i.e., lots of sweaty, drooly sleep) before tapering off and being beaten into the ground.

Ugh. I've been sick with an upper respiratory infection for the past week. Stupid health care profession puts me right in the line of fire for getting all kinds of bugs. Well, on the bright side, at least I can diagnose and treat myself.

That would be "neurological", I think.

Diet might help with some of the symptoms -- studies have shown that broad spectrum supplements of vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids to have beneficial psychological effects. Anecdotally, I correlate my starting taking omega-3 etc. supplements puffed as for "brain function and performance" and an up-tick in my general mood and sense of well-being.

Although the MMR/Autism thing always was bogus, I don't know if the association of bowel problems with the mix of symptoms also claimed has any validity... But for that sort of thing I recommend a regular scrub every week or two with a huge bowl of All Bran and dried fruit or sliced banana -- nothing beats a direct mechanical solution.

I had strep... I always catch those nasty bugs during the winter... twice usually... So, I was sick before winter break and after it...

Erm... health problems... I'm *supposedly* allergic to: Eggs, coffee, peanuts and vegetables (seriously)... heh. ;p

Actually I guess I'm sorta malnourished and ought to be eating some vitamins for it, but I AM doing fine and pretty much never go to a hospital, clinic or dentist.

I've got Asperger's Syndrome too, and I'm also prone to depression. Zoloft works for me, though.

Aspergers here too lol theres a lot of us. Is there a thread on it anywhere??? it would be interesting to read other people opinions on it and stuff.

I havnt got it bad mind you although i do cock up on the emotion stuff quite a bit, usually end up acting like a twat on purpose to cover it up. And i am pretty obsessed with watching anime.

Aside from that theres not much else, i am slightly chubby but it doesnt bother me too much, ive also been smoking for 3 years which is pretty bad but i enjoy it so meh.

Not as such, but the search function should point you at previous discussions, and the results of various of us doing the Baron-Cohen ASQ test.

I have this rib cage thingy, where it indents in the middle. And yeah, some doctor told me that it could lead to breathing problems in the future. But she also said it wasn't that bad. And this was all during my 8th grade Scoliosis test.

That's MY main health problem. Was diagnosed 3 years ago, although after the heavy corticoid treatment week in the hospital the optical neuritis which was my first symptom dissapeared almost completely. Been with the Interferon B1a treatment since then, and I fucking hate it. Had no more relapses, but that therapy dropped me into deep depression, lost my fucking career, became a hikikomori for almost a year and a half, and now I'm even on antidepressants and shit.

The doc said that if after 3 years of treatment I get no more lesions he would cut off the interferon. I don't think I'll be released that easily from this predicament, but well, have to have faith. Soon I'l be getting what might probably be my last magnetic resonance in this regard, we'll see what I get then.

It's not the being on it, it's the trying to get off of it. The person I knew on it was close to suicidal trying to deal with the withdrawals.
