Is there anything about Eva or about what people say about Eva that really just gets on your nerves? For me its when people label characters (aka, Shinji is "emo", Asuka is a "bitch").

Asuka and A/S are my biggest pet peeves about Eva, sometimes i get so pissed I don't think I'll be able to see straight.

If I were in the mood to stir things, I'd post something like:

but really, it is what it is, and some of what it is is a mirror held up to the viewer, so the peeve is in large part a futile disgruntlement with other fans not grokking the series the same way I do.

An interpretation can't be contradicted directly by text within the work. The conglomerate Asuka/Rei/Misato theory is.

People who cry "PRETENTIOUS!!!!!" whenever a show/movie tries to make them think.

This is a general pet peeve of mine that happens to apply to NGE.

This is so true. In fact most "deep" animes are pretentious, but NGE is one huge exception (I once wrote essay - which was destroyed when my computer died - on the matter. I had ended up in argument over NGE and it's supposed pretentiouness and decided to make killer anwer which turned into large essay. Of course when I finished it my computer died ) in the fold. There's a lot one can say about EVA but pretentious isn't one of them.

Another is labelling Shinji emo. I mean, for christ's sake, there's nothing emo about the guy! Same with the other characters, Asuka is most emo character and even she is far from it.

However these aren't petpeeves in the shows really.

This shot has started to irk me little bit after 10000th I've seen EoE :P

It has no meaning and it disrupts narrative flow in the scene when Giant Kaworu appears. Similar shot at shot e.g. later on in the movie as Shinji is watching...ermm... Misato's feet works just fine in the narrative and is in place. That is useless and offers one second of static moment. It would've worked if Shinji would've continued his pleading but it stops just for that moment.

Granted this is something that has started to annoy me after 10000th I've seen movie (it's not like you notice it if you don't concentrate)

If you don't look at it carefully it looks like someone with kinda flat boobies is wearing Misatos pendant in that picture, but the flat boobies are actually the window of the cockpit.

My only pet peeve would be any time Shinji freaks out his pupils get really small. In real life that would mean he is calm and relaxed. The opposite should be occurring.
