I was going to wait for the blu release but I saw the $13 price tag and said "What the hell". The darkness is bareable, atleast it isn't artificially brightened causing wash-out. Oddly enough, I set my TV to the settings I have for Laserdisc and it wasn't so dark (LDs are usually darker than the DVD counterpart)

Seriously, what is the difference between 1.01 and 1.11?

In 1.11

You get more scenes with Sachiel healing itself. Scenes of abandoned railroad tracks and generally extended scenes that include Misato driving around an abandoned Tokyo 2 when trying to get to Shinji's extraction point.

You also have that memorable scene with Misato driving on that highway with shinji while chit chatting...... Nothing big but it adds about 4-6 minutes to the 98 min long run for 1.0

Yeah there is. *Sigh* Its so out of place. Yeah Scuba wetsuit Ritsuko fanservice scene is back. You also get to see more Unit 01's hangar in Nerv and the submerged arms before Ritsuko introduces the Eva to Shinji.

Aw....man...yet another one gets sucked into the temptation of buying Eva 1.01 on dvd. I did manage to see dvds selling at my local HMV for less than Walmart, surprisingly. A low $22.99 vs Walmart's $26.99

Meh. As i said before i will not get succumb to this temptation to purchase 1.01. I will wait for 1.11 when it comes out in another 4-5 months. Patience is a virtue people. You have my approval!

Looks like I'm probably going to end up buying both. Maybe just because the sub DVD that I already own says 1.0 on it, not 1.01. So I may as well collect all of them.

Got it the 2nd day it came out. Tried to get it on the first day but, it was sold out (how unbelievable). Now am patiently waiting for 2.0's release in japan so funimation can get that licensed to bring over here.

And patiently you'll have to wait probably for more than a year..... Its going to be hard enough to wait for 2.0 to come onto dvd in japan. Funimation bringing it over as a R1 release? Probably wont happen till the end of 2010. December 2010 probably....at earliest

1.01 at 24.99 in Best Buy last Friday was what finally sent me over the edge. They aren't even trying with Black Friday anymore. Its like the fucking Circuit City going out of business sale!
