Went through the Rebuild featurette to try and find what they use for the eye, because there's usually lots of fun things in there. Annoying that this one is half the length of the 2.0 one

No, I really think ElMariachi has a point. It is no stylization what we see there: those are definitely animalistic/angelic teeth, similar to EVA's, that not even a Beast Mode Mari displayed. Be it in bilateral or mosaic fashion (as it happens, say, with gynandromorphs), Asuka really seems to have turned into something beyond human, somewhat strange and new; maybe a hybrid, maybe a new species, who knows? the possibilities for such turn out of events are wide and fascinating.

my prediction is that Asuka is indeed half angel....now then...what do you need to go back in time like Shinji wanted? a human and an angel ( like karouw). if Asuka is part angel or full angel this can work. also at the beginning when Asuka helps the ship fly you see her using the lance that is NOT the longinus lance but instead the other one. what could this mean...well to me this means that perhaps in the film Asuka will be identified as an angel and her and Shinji will be on the run from Misato and all them. their charaters shall develop and Asuka still has feelings for him somewhat ( not shipping its true) so perhaps she will confess how she feels or felt. anyway in the end they will proabbly use a fused eva or something and in the final battle when final impact is starting and everyone at war Shinji and Asuka will use both lances and allow Shinji to go back in time and fix everything.....if this does happen i hope we get to see him and how he changes the future.

If Asuka is part-Angel, I think WILLE would know it since a long time, probably when she was in a coma after the Bardiel incident 14 years ago. Besides it's kinda hard to hide with her left eye going all glowy when she gets pissed off, and she's a very aggressive person!

Also she's not using the lance of Cassius at the beginning of the movie, we don't know where that lance is.
And we don't know what are the specific requiring for the two-spear ritual : the only thing Kaworu said is that a Lilin imitation(i.e. a clone) can't do it because of its "soul placement", also we don't know what exactly this ritual is supposed to do, if its time travel, cosmic resetting or just a terraforming bringing back the world to an habitable state for mankind.

Well, maybe Misato and/or Ritsuko have managed to conceal Asuka's true nature from the other crew members for Asuka's own protection, or everyone just doesn't interfere with her because she's needed as a pilot.

I'm almost certain it's just some progressive blade lance.

Ha! More than ever I'm slowly becoming convinced Asuka will be the final Angel that Shinji has to battle. Well, not really, but imagine if such a concept does appear in Final.

That, or I wouldn't be surprised if Gendo makes it a priority to kill Asuka, what with the death of the final angel will release some sort of evil.
