Evidently more focus on Rei and Kaworu can only come with a terrible, terrible price.

Well maybe the first part is trying to make an intro into all the characters before all hell breaks loose. I'm sure all the other parts will have to do with EVA's, angles, shinji, asuka, rei, kawarou, instrumentality bla bla bla. I'm remaining sceptical.

I'd suggest that they're introducing all the children at the front of the story, instead of having you meet them one at a time. It does look suspiciously like GFOS, however. Maybe they're just trying to condense time in the story...-

Perhaps we see all of the CHILDREN where they were, seperately, before the ANGEL attacks started up.

That's an interesting prediction, Shin-seiki. And so goddamn horrifying I'm getting goosebumps. ("New locations".... NOOOOOOOoooooo!!!!)

So essentially, these movies will be one big AU Fest, not an expansion of the preexisting canon. And that makes our two leads Rei in Appearance Only and Kaworu in Appearance Only.

All hope is to be abandoned. I shall be expecting the worst, and wondering why on Earth they didn't just make a goddam prequel.

Kaworu. In school. Like a normal person. This could be funny. Can you imagine, all that stupid adolescent crap, and Kaworu taking it seriously and getting all stressed out over such things? just so some audience members can sympathize? haha this is great, lets bastardize one of the most unique and mysterious characters in the whole series for some fanservice. Damnit people, you aren't SUPPOSED to be able to identify with him! lol.

This does not mean, as I suggested before, that Kaworu is necessarily going to be in the classroom with Shinji, Asuka, and Rei, it's quite possible that we will see where Kaworu was before he joined the rest of the CHILDREN.

This is clearly going to be a bastardization of the original storyline. Originally, pre-Sachiel:

- Rei (1st C.) at Tokyo-3 junior high school w/ 4th Level candidates (Toji, Kensuke, Hikari, etc.)
- Shinji is in Musashino or thereabouts
- Asuka is in Germany and has already graduated from college
- Kaworu is somewhere in Germany

The essence of Rebuild 1 seems to be rather clearly stated: Kids at school. No Angels. That means Alternate Universe.

A different setup also means that we won't be dealing with the exact same characters. They won't be the people we met and came to know in the original anime -- they will be different (or, heaven forbid, "appearance only") versions of them.

Yeah. I am definitely gonna expect the worst. If you have a surprise for us, Anno, it better be fucking sweet.

You know, the more I think about these new movies, the more I don't think I like them. All those people saying that Eva should just be left well enough alone are probably right

I think awesome things could still be done with NGE, but AU ranks high on my "DO NOT WANT" list. So far, this project just sounds like wasted potential.

Didn't someone have the same idea to do that with the DBZ franchise? And DBGT was born from that?

I don't know, I'm just shooting in the dark here.

Besides, you guys are all starting to act paranoid... It might not be that bad. Put faith into the crew (Anno, et al.) since they have proven that they can make something abso-fucking-lutely amazing. If it turns out that it sucks, oh well... It was a complete loss. But you are all going to be unfairly critical of it... So you're more than likely going to go in seeing the stuff with a negative view of it... Making the job harder for the crew and may end up leading to disappointment.

I'm putting faith into them. I doubt I'm going to be disappointed unless it is complete crap, like DBGT was.
