Wow, I wish. It'd be nice if they showed just one movie in Australia, but I'm not counting on that ever happening.

I would like to go... since it's in the week-end, maybe I can make it, if I have enough money.

Don't tell me... the next Angel is a gopher that makes dolphin calls, and Misato chooses to hunt it with plastic explosive shaped in the form of rabbits.

Super-nerdy article alert:

Pilgrammage to Tokyo-3

Not of much relevance to 2.0, but I found it when looking for further confirmation of the "lolwut golf course?" thing (since I suck at interpreting satellite images).

For whatever it's worth:

IRC information wrote:[2010-04-24 10:38:11] NAveryW Oh, looks like they're canceling the screenings of 2.0 in Hakone because it's inconveniencing the residents
SSD Whoa. O_o

NAveryW http://eva2.0.b-ch.com/blog/2_0/archives/265
NAveryW Eric's giving me a general translation
NAveryW The residents were being disturbed by an influx of Eva fans, apparently, who were parking in unauthorized places and, er, breaking into public homes
NAveryW: Eric_Blair again, it's not "invaded homes" as in "breaking an entering"
NAveryW: Eric_Blair in Japan, if you park your car outside someone else's property, you are trespassing
NAveryW So anyway, the people of Hakone submitted a plea to the council or something
NAveryW Oh, OK, the screening hasn't been canceled YET. But because there's a big Tokyo-3 viral marketing campaign (e.g. Lawson's giving out Nerv bags and Unit 01 appearing via augmented reality), the citizens of Hakone are being disturbed by an influx of otaku and have made a plea to the city council to cancel the screening
SSD ah
NAveryW ...Well, at least the Tokyo-3 viral marketing campaign didn't turn out as badly as the one for the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie
NAveryW Come to think of it, it's sort of the opposite. Too many people are arriving in Hakone, parking everywhere and disturbing the peace. With the Aqua Teen thing, because people thought the Mooninite LEDs were bombs, everyone was evacuated.

Addendum:

Addended wrote:<Eric_Blair> fyi, it's not a big marketting campaign
<Eric_Blair> it's centered around the Lawsons that appears while Shinji, Kensuke and Toji are getting ice cream before Toji's sister appears

Pilgrimages are common in anime fandom. That's why the Haruhi school had to put up "no trespassing" signs.

ANN states the Hakone 2.22 Event is still going to occur just as planned.

(By the way, there's some information overlap with this thread.)

1.0 was shown a few years ago as part of MIFF, and after 2.0's absence from last year, i'd say it's a shoe in for this year (1.0 sold out all it's screenings quite nicely).

It just depends how close you live to Melbourne or if it travels with a festival more closer to your parts. There were murmurs Madman would release both theatrically in indie theatres but it would have to be after they've done the festival route.

Mmkay, so the I Would Give You Anything Noguchi Version is still in Japanese and is still Tsubasa o Kudsai, it just simple adds claps (hence the "Komm Susser Tod 3rd Impact holy shit we're all going to become tang and die" feeling) and sounds slightly like the version we hear in the 2.22 Promo Vid but not quite.

Thanks to Naw-kun for the information and mp3!

(Holy wow, I nearly crapped myself with hearing Shinji's screams. @_@ No wonder Ogata fell to the floor and was so tired from all the screaming.)

GODAMN THIS MOVIE IS EPIC. I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYBODY SAYS. ;_; IT'S EPIC.
