Just an fyi, Asuka's laughing (whether or not at Shinji or some other situation) isn't necessarily the same scene with Mari and Shinji. With the first Rebuild poster, Shinji's lines about "I have nothing worth protecting" and Misato's "I believe in Eva-01's pilot" weren't in the same scene, either.

Also, since I'm sure my translation of the dialogue will differ from Reichu's, let me just point out the following. Like any language, Japanese is one where you have to either strive for a balance between what's literally being said and getting the point across, or simply picking what makes sense in English over a literal translation.

EDIT: The Asuka stuff was split, please take it up in the other thread.

Alternatively, this is what she says when Shinji sees her naked (he sees all the chicks naked, so this WILL happen), and then she is crushed by EVA-02 as Asuka makes her dramatic entrance.

*“Betania,” as it's written in Japanese, refers to Bethany, a biblical village outside of Jerusalem notable for Jesus' many visits there where he was anointed by the sister of Lazarus, also known as Mary of Bethany.

**The Shikinami, like the Ayanami, was a Japanese Imperial Fubuki-class destroyer. Kind of a cool change frankly.

***I believe “Tabuha” refers to the biblical town Tiberias, on the sea of Galilee.

EDIT: I just noticed there are two items on the poster that I missed. One is "処理" which means (among other things) to execute a computer order, or process something. The other item is so blurry I can't make it out. My guess is that it's some spooky Japanese word for a secret plot. Watch me be right.

EDIT The Second: Changed Shinji's line to what I think is more accurate. I also think Asuka's line is in reference to someone noting that she is laughing/grinning, possibly when she doesn't know she is, or it's a situation where it seems out of place.

I can't wait to find out what some of these things are. And, as I said before, I think it'd be fantastic if Third Impact actually occurs by the end of 2.0.

The Third Angel + Betania Base makes me think of the Moon Base with Eva 06. Makes me stand by my believe of Eva 06 is the Third Angel.

Mari sounds like someone who may fill more of a Kaji role for Shinji. Try to actively encourage him to toughen up.

And yeah, what with the Poster showing a world in Flames I would think ending Film 2.0 on Third Impact would be INSANE GENIUS! Sure it would make the sequels hard to do with more Angels but damnit, third impact?

I agree. I've always thought that Kaworu referred to the white giant as the third instead of Shinji.

If you look at the poster as being a sequence of events--Asuka is introduced, Mari is introduced, we see new Evas, Eva-03 gets all crazy and Gendo uses the dummy plug to kill/maim toji and so forth... the last item on the list is the third impact. So... yeah.

Also, false God = Lilith?
Mary of Bethany/Mary Magdalene = Mari?
Ayanami says in EOE, "I am not your doll." The word "doll" is on the list too.

This is going to be a weird movie.

Nebuchadnezzar could mean anything. In particular the Nebuchadnezzar's were Kings of Babylon. There's four of them. Perhaps the four mysterious figures from the 1.0 Post-Credits Teaser?
Who knows. At least we now have information to guess around with.
