I remember that! IIRC, that "bad apple's"' ban expired after a few years and he returned shortly for a while, only to disappear again.

But even if they were in a privileged position, leaking industry secrets is an absolute no-go. That obliviousness to one's contribution and importance bewilders me greatly. It's kind of bittersweet to see the petition being a failure. I hope it serves as a much needed reality check.
Agreed. But I guess they've been invited to enough anime cons to assume otherwise?
Actually, it might be time to split hairs here. Honestly, I don't think that anyone in the English VA pool is well known enough to deserve most of their eccentricities. But, while they are a part of the group reposting the petitions, they are not the ones actually creating the petitions themselves.
Fans of these people have been creating the petitions, and, as far as I know,
fans have been the ones randomly calling dubbing studios in the hunt of rumored of any current Eva English dubbing. The VAs have simply retweeted and commented and stuff and, since they are not under any Non-Disclosure Agreements (assuming that there are any around a rumored dub to begin with), nothing can really keep them from doing that while still working professionally on other projects. (VAs expressing opinions of properties that they've participated in over twitter like that aren't uncommon either, as Tara Strong and the gang verbalized their surprise for not being a part of CN's PowerPuff Girls reboot.) And, honestly, with almost every report only being
rumored for a new set of English dubs, I suspect that these petitions from the fans and actions on the VAs' parts have just as much to do with
creating a new English dub as it does having the original English VAs starring in the new English dub. I think it's universally agreed upon that ADV's English dub of Eva has enough technical/performative/textual/etc. problems that using the ADV dub would do more to hold back Eva's credibility to half of its viewers, along with the reputation of anyone who had worked in it, than advance it. And since Netflix hasn't officially said one way or the other whether or not they're doing a new English dub, why not grassroots an effort to pressure that new dub into existence?
Now, the only actual cases of these English VAs being so obnoxious that it's detrimental to their goals are Amanda Winn Lee's posts seemingly confirming that there's an English dub director and that Eva is "in good hands" (without any official word from Netflix one way or thew other) only to turn around and suggest that it somehow isn't in good hands anymore simply because it might not star her. That kind of behavior isn't really consistent with itself. But even then, at least she's not like one of the fans actively calling every dub house and attempting to post their business arrangements all over the internet. Tiffany Grant's getting Yuko Miyamura to retweet the petition is kinda weird too, but I found that more surprising than anything else. I recall them being friends, so Miyamura's probably just trying to help a sister out. I just never really cared for Grant's dub work is all. (IIRC, Hideaki Anno was reported to have actually liked Asuka's English dub, so I clearly must be in the wrong here.
