So...wait...does the platium edition have deleted scenes?
"Everyone but me has gone fucking nuts. I'm the eye of the goddam storm." - Tycho, Penny Arcade (Or a very irrate Fuyutsuki)
Deleted scenes? Where did you hear that from? By the time the series is completed, it will include the Director's Cuts, meaning that if you bought the DC DVDs, you wasted your money. :P
But other than that, no, there are no deleted scenes that I have encountered.
BTW, do you guys remember that part of Episode 09 where Misato says, "That's a load of bull!" and then the picture sloppily wipes out to white, indicating that there must have been an ommited scene? I was kind of hoping Platinum 0:2 would either include whatever had been cut, or just have a better edit. The fact is, on the Platinum DVD, not only do you have the same horrible swipe, but it's actually accompanied by a "pop" when the scene changes.
Alas, one of the great mysteries of Eva. Any comment on that, Eva Monkey?

There is nothing there. However I have to assume that something was cut out fairly late in the game, since earlier revision would definitely have resulted in a cleaner scene transition. Also, the track that plays when Israfel's halves emerge occurs only once in the series (to my recollection), and that track, contained on OST 2, carries on into what sounds like something that was intended to run with a completed scene. In the series, the music does less than drop out; it jus sort of... stops.
I have to go back and watch the animatic tha bored me so. Perhaps it contains a clue.

OK :? :?
its called sarcasm, theres to many times where one would have to slow the series down to an unwatchable speed to see something that raises a good 42 questions

Oh, and anyway, there's nothing in the animatic either. Maybe it was edited badly on purpose just to get me wondering what was omitted.
yea , what was omitted
I have too much anime, yet it's not enough. Anime Addict, if it were a drug; I'd be dead.
My best guess is that there was an idea to animate a sequence depicting Israfel beating the crap out of Evas 01 and 02. I mean, in that whole episode, we are led to understand that the pilots failed because they weren't working as a team, but the thing is, we never saw that. The space for the scene to be inserted may have been included in the original rough edit before anything was actually animated, and when they decided not to do the sequence, they just clumsily cut out the empty space (hence the reason why the animatic has the same cut.) I suppose the director felt that seeing the Evas plunged headfirst into the ground was enough to show that the operation failed, and wanted move on. This makes sense, except that the music plot would have been less absurd had we been given the opportunity to see just how Israfel's tactics required it.

good point
