I pre-ordered from HLJ. To cancel an open order you just, log in, edit it, and if you remove all items it's cancelled. Brief period of sadness and regret follows. But *%#@^%@*&^ it's 400 *#&@#(& dollars before shipping :\
As cool as they are that's still a lot of (*&!@#@ dollars.
MOVING ON, unexpected package today. Took only 12 calendar days to arrive with SAL. From past experience the minimum is 15.
EDIT: Mini-review!
So back in November when Bandai released their Q kits I found them quite satisfactory, except for Eva-02'γ head. That sculpt was atrocious and clearly designed to save on molding for no real reason.
The back of the head was too big. The jaw was too small. The eyes are in the wrong places. Overall the thing was just horribly wrong in all ways.
For reference, the 3DCG model used in the movie
Now let's see how the Kotobukiya measures up. It's also far from being a perfect duplicate of the movie model, but where it goes off-model it does it in all the right ways. That glorious extra-large beard. LOOK AT IT.
Why does it look so, so right?
Because the Master knows beards are awesome.
Takeshi Honda also occasionally gives in to the urge: http://i.minus.com/ibbEME2AEojvUZ.jpg
Kotobukiya also did the complete opposite of Bandai
They broke up the parts and added a seam line for the customer ot fill in, but at least that allows for molding the detail nicely.
My only complaint with it has to do with the pre-painting. To do that Kotobukiya molds the part normally, then trim it themselves off the tree
That means someone else has to trim off the gate, and in thise case the trimmed too deeply
See how the panel line along the edge disappears? :\
Thankfully because I ordered two kits, the other one was trimmed much nicer at the panel line.
But worse at the back. That's easier to fix however, so meh.
