so I just finished rewatching episode 24 and noticed i missed something that I should have noticed... maybe the first 30 times I watched it

What the Hell Is that!

It's another A.T. Field, as strong as we've ever detected!

It's shutting down Everything!

It's another A.T. Field, Its strong as the first one as appeared around terminal dogma!?

He's right it's breaking through the other A.T. Field!

What Is it another angel?

I dont know, I can't confirm it!

Um, I'm assuming the first A.T. Field Is Kaworu's
But the second one comes and goes and then disappear's
Is it Rei's?
If someone knows if there actually is an answer to this, itd be great (I'm worried there might not be, this IS Evangelion,)

Don't feel too bad---when I first watched the series, I didn't realize that the Rei in that scene was our Rei (Rei 3) and instead thought it had something to do with Quantum Physics Rei 3/Lilith, aka Bookend Rei.

If by Lilith, you mean the white giant on the cross, then no. No soul = no ATF.

I did always thought that it was Rei, but with this thread, I'm kinda thinking...what if Rei was just acting as harbringer of death, as she did in EoE? Kaworu probably thought "Oh snap, I'ma die, I just saw her" and then gave up or something. Though I used to always think Rei was just expanding and then closing her AT field to help out Shinji...it's just, I Think that's something else to chew on.

I always thought that it was Rei, but with this thread, I'm kinda thinking...what if Rei was just acting as harbinger of death, as she did in EoE? Kaworu probably thought "Oh snap, I'ma die, I just saw her" and then gave up or something.

Rei only did the "Harbinger of Death" bit after she reunited with Lilith and created the Anti AT Field (god damn harpies). When she confronted Kaworu in T.D., her only abilities (that I'm aware of) are a freakishly strong A.T. Field, and some funky teleporting power.

Really? The Rei scenes that creeped ME out are Rei 1 floating towards Shinji in Episode 14 (same with Rei 1's disembodied head in 25 *shudders*), and when Shogoki/the Tree of Life enters GNR in 26'....The expression on Rei's face both times are just freaking creepy! :shock:


With Rei's talents: When Kaworu's around, Rei can only project her AT Field and float. In EoE once she joins Lilith, she can be in several places at once (including Rei 3 herself, not just those servants of hers), float, do Anti AT Field magic, and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting.

No wonder! Look at her mouth, and her chin! She's horribly badly drawn, that's why! If it weren't for the hair and the red eyes, would you call her Rei?

Perhaps because her chin looks a lot lower than it should be here. Actually, I think Rei had a bit of a recessed jaw, IIRC, so I find it strange with her jaw as low and promenent as it is there...

Interestingly enough, this pic of Rei is from the DC version of Episode 24, not the on-air version.

Maybe she's meant to look spooky while doing her AT Field stuff?

It is, but Rei's expression looks different. For another example, compare the OA scene of Rei breaking Gendou's glasses in 23 to the DC version of it (her expression is cold in the DC version).

Apparently such changes were done for things in EoE to make more sense.
