For my money, this is the greatest thing to come out of the DuckTales Remasted game.

^Wow, can't really look at Fly Me to the Moon the same way after that (in a good way).

If I ever need to rescue my jazz band from an evil consortium of demons I need that as my backing track.

Ok +1 for all the Sonic Team games: the MD Sonics, NiGHTS, Sonic R all had amazing music and even bona fide great pop tunes.

Some synth rock from the Thunder Force series is a must

Legendary Wings
Lightning strikes again
Rising Blue Ligtning
Duel of Top

WipEout 2097 (XL in North America) had probably the best music ever for a game but those were proper songs in their own right from top artists such as Prodigy, FSOL and The Chemical Brothers, so that's basically cheating I guess.

The theme of the first Tomb Raider was also pretty beautiful, so goes for some Street Fighter II' CE themes (Ken, Guile and Ryu especially)...

Video game music is wonderful and amazing. In fact, if all goes well with my education in music industry studies, I hope to get an internship at a studio making music for video games (there's one studio in particular that gets a lot of students from my program).

One soundtrack that had always stood out to me was for Star Ocean: Till the End of Time for the ps2, composed by Motoi Sakuraba. Although the orchestral tracks are kinda weak, the jazzy and spacy tracks are lots of fun! My two favorites from that soundtrack are either More Complicated or Highbrow (Band Recording). Around the same time, Tri Ace also came out with Radiata Stories, which pays homage to Sakuraba's style (there's even a version of Moody Goddess on the game).

Otherwise, Final Fantasy IX is one of my biggest nostalgic games; I recently downloaded the soundtrack (composed by Nobou Uematsu) to pull ideas from for my electronic music class, and now I can't get enough of it. I ended up doing a cover of the ragtime Sleepless City Treno.

I know this is technically a remix of the original OST, but Noveria theme is best theme.

Memorable....

This is a video game track. No, really, and that's the promo's original audio too. It was simply awesome enough to be put on tv alongside burly men with sledge hammers (Klepacki's work was sadly not so fortunate).

Pity the rest of the game isn't so memorable.

I just remembered what Q's soundtrack most reminded me of, and it's the soundtrack to Emperor: Battle for Dune, especially Arkenstone's tracks. Good times. Too bad the game is still a bit crap.

Infinite +1s for Mitsuda love

Here's a thread on a forum for old bitter video game hipsters I frequent with an extensive selection of first-rate tracks. (I'm user "Ni Go Zero Ichi", btw)

Arashi no Saxophone No. 2 Arranged is too good. KoF games have pretty good soundtracks.
