You make it sound as if I'm the only proponent of said "claim".

You don't think Misato went after Shinji as a lover in episode #23?
Or do you simply feel this was a one off slip for her, and that her motives for keeping him are largely maternal?

Well, now that I've opened that can of worms, don't post another word about it unless it's in an appropriate thread. Reichu's orders! (I'm sure there's a preexisting one in the Discussions Forum somewhere.)

Pimp it Dave! Pimp it like Gendo!
a Dream that never ends
a Love that never dies
like living on the other side of the sky
When everything’s an illusion
Life is neither borrowed nor bought it’s just something that you’re using
Nothing is my freedom
yet,
Nothing my cage
Man! it’s great just to be living
in the paradox age.

You do realize that the above has "comeback bait" written all over it?

Ok. I've decided to change my mind from Gendo to Kaworu.
Why?
Well I conducted a little experiment last night, and now I no longer think that Gendo is all he makes himself out to be. He seems to be hiding the fact that his "apparatus" might not be up to regular standards.
Let's just say he's shooting some dodgy bullets!
"What's the friggin experiment? :x " I here ya'll ask.
Well it involves there two,
and the phrase......If They Mated.
Behold...

Be warned that this is only the beginning.
Additional test subjects have already been drafted.

If 'largely maternal' includes keeping him around for company*...
* in all senses of the word, but mostly platonic.
Defectron wrote:It was just all pure Rei for him, so what do you suppose that means?
Well, he could be a paedophile, but it strikes me as unlikely.
Ryo wrote:If I were a girl, I'd go for Toji, or maybe even Kensuke. They seem much more fun than Shinji, at least.
Toji, OK. But Kensuke? IMHO, he's slightly too obsessed with the EVA's for having a girlfriend (except a really large one - like, EVA-sized... )

Actually no. My body is constructed in an odd way. I have short spine, so there's next to no room in between my hips and rip cage. And I'm just skinny.

Because, it's like I said, this is what women want...
And, I didn't see the sticky topic
I'll have to move it.

I'd go for Fuyutsuki for his distinguished good looks, though Makoto isn't bad looking for a youngster.
Because they are mature & experienced (nudge, nudge, wink, wink). And in Gendo's case there could also be a little bit of the Kissinger effect, which is why you see trophy babes on the arms of old guys.
(quoth he, 13 weeks from his 48th birthday).
Comfort nothing - that was the blatant nuclear option to try and get his sorry ass in gear via said hormones, since reason and appeal to his better self had both failed. Though Asuka could have told her she was wasting her last breath, even if ep23 were completely innocent (and if not, she'd already know that).
It doesn't always work like that. Sometimes the bolt from the blue ("Hey, our major histocompatibility complexes smell amazingly complementary! Let's pair-bond.") pre-empts matters.

It is very difficult, but I'll refrain from commenting...

Hence why I said "IMO". When I was a sprout and I asked my dad about who his friends were, that eventually evoked the comment, "Your mother is my best friend." I was very impressed by this sentiment. I decided that whoever I would love in the same way my dad loves my mom, they would also be my best friend. No problems so far.
