I'd be able to tell you if I had a soundtrack.
God, Apparently you all have been discussing Q since November. Catching up on the discussion is harrowing.

I like Those women longed for the touch of other's lips and thus invited their kisses...erm...the song when Misato is talking about her love for Kaji before Kaji shuts her up.

After that it's the symphonic version of Thanatos...

and then Misato's theme. :leekspin:

Series

-EVA-00 - subtler and more menacing than The Beast and others
-Crime of Innocence - gentlest and most beautiful of the Rei themes.
-Misato - best ringtone I've ever had...
-Good, or Don't Be - makes me smile and cry at the same time!
-Whatever that one is that's played when Shinji gets into the Eva for the first time (only played in Ep.1 AFAIK)

EoE

-Thanatos (instrumental)
- Rei III - powerful and dramatic.
- Air in D Major - really beautiful (loved this piece even before Eva!)
- Jesu, Bleibet Meine Freunde (Jesus, Joy of Man's Desiring)
- Opening of Dream - Beautiful. Makes me think of Yui. (bye bye Yui-sama. *sob*)
zerogokiru theories make Zerogoki want to hit walls...

But I'm not going to tell you whose...#

"It was originally Happy Magic Virtue Shield." NAveryW on the heap of odd that is the Enchanted Shield of Virtue...

[nitpick] Rei III is just small part of larger piece that goes under many names including "Expansion of Blockade". It is pretty much best orchestral piece I've ever heard in anime.

Oh, and what's played is Air on G string, not in D Major [/nitpick]

Ahh, but I only like the Rei III bit...

>_< How could I get that wrong when I made soooo many jokes about the G string in music class?!? I blame the fact it's late where I am.

Eva-01 is the name.

I also like Misato and Asuka Strikes! and Expansion of Blockage and Good or Don't Be with favorite background pieces.

From the series:
Tokyo-3
Asuka Strikes
Mistao

From End of Evangelion:
II Air (Orchestral Suite No. 3)
Komm Süsser Tod
Heisoku no Kakudai

I'm going to have to listen the other ones from Rebuild of Evangelion, but, until then, my favorites from Rebuild are:
Angel of Doom
Fly Me To The Moon (In Other Words)-2007 MIX-Utada Hikaru

I like the classical song that plays while Asuka fights the MP Evas and when Ritsuko gets shot. Air? I think. Great choice of music.

My favorite song, in the sense of the word that includes lyrics would be "Everything You've Ever Dreamed." I don't care if it was never in the series or movies, it's still the best music of all the OSTs. The orchestration is warm, lush, and embracing, while the lyrics are cold, harsh, and distancing. It's the only song that can break my heart simply by me listening to it. "Komm, Susser Tod" is second, though "If I Can't Be Yours" is pretty close; the jazzy sound is unique amongst Evangelion soundtracks.(Except VOX, obviously.)

As far as Japanese songs go, I'm a big fan of "Kokoro yo Genshi ni Modore", and "Kimi ga Kimi ni Umareta Wake," from one of the Saturn games. To be honest I could list them all, but then, that would be an exercise in redundancy.

As far as BGM's go, I've hit hot and cold with many of them, but my favorites are:

1. "Expansion of Barriers" - The opening violin solo pierces the heart.
2. "The Flow of Emptiness" - The intro has this amazingly dense sound, and it's one of the only battle themes(perhaps the only one) which has a very emotional melody. Unlike the other battle themes, it's not just focused on a more violent, chaotic sound, but rather a lyrical, but distraught sound.

Other favorites:
BGM III
I, Shinji
A Moment When Tension Breaks
It's Fragile, the Ego Border
Hedgehog's Dilemma
I'll Go On Loving Someone Else
Marking Time, Waiting For Death

And of course, I love the borrowed tracks, too, your "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring", and all.

My favorite is "Cruel Angel's Thesis" (long version), which I transposed for string orchestra, heard about a million times, and memorized to play on the piano. I still love it.

Another one is "Namida" from Death and Rebirth", which is like "Thanatos", but I liked the cello sound in "Namida" better.

Yet another is "Misato" th carefree, flirty tune is addicting.

My final favorite is "Good or Don't Be", which I am learning to play on the Piano. An excellent show off piece that's not too long.

My favourite has to be Fly Me to the Moon and Cruel Angel's Thesis.
I like them both equally.
Fly me to the moon and let me play among the stars. Let me see what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars.....

Eva's Fly me to the Moon is a shitty song. If I don't even like Ol' blue eyes version of it that much, no way I'm going to like an engrish version of it.

Fly me to the moon. Personally I don't really like the versions from the show as much as I do the Utada Hikaru or the Nat King Cole version but they are ok.

i'm with Hunter. Sinatra's version is the best out there by far.

as for eva songs, i'm still gonna go with the cruel dilemma pieces, and Angels of Doom for it's sheer overblown feel.
