Would a direct sequel to End of Evangelion be better than the Rebuilds?

I don't think EoE could have been topped regardless, it is quite definitively an end for that storyline, you would have to substantially alter the course of events of EoE to even have such a thing take place, indeed that is usually where material such as Anima breaks away and creates it's own timeline.
