I've never read it, and it's hentai, so I'll never go near the damn thing.

Oh, wait. 'Lemon' is what they call that kind of fanfic/hentai, right? No wonder.

No, I'm being completely serious about trying to figure out what unfortunate drink has undeservedly been relegated to being Shinji's precious body fluid, but I guess that's no use in a thread that has gone completely nuts. The things people make up!

Oh my god this thread, my sides are in fucking Andromeda right now. I am kind of surprised that an EVA fourm is so surprised about Japan being Japan though.

There were several lovingly crafted scat modifications of Eva figurines whose pictures floated around the 'net (= appeared on THAT BOARD repeatedly) about a decade ago, of which that was possibly the most restrained.

I'll admit, I may have overreacted to this thread without realizing it's just people just being perverse in their own way due to the restrictions of their culture (and it's not like we haven't come up with more perverse stuff ourselves with our own characters over here. :P)

I can understand that it's the culture and that they market it as such. They do porn for the sake of porn and all that, but those are at least some isolated worlds and stories.

I guess the reason why some of us kind of overreacted to this is because a lot of us create such an emotional tie to Shinji as a character, and thus we get invested in his problems as as a result, sympathize and pity him. And, as I already said, marketing his worst moment as a drink is not only insulting to his character, but kind of insulting humanity as well, were we capitalize on our worst moments. It's like making a drink to capitalize the holocaust or a suicide.

And maybe I'm overreacting and thanks to some coaxing from Elmariachi (thanks dude), we have to consider that Shinji and Eva are still fictional worlds.

But, my argument, at least towards Shinji in general, is that he's the most REALISTIC fictional character I've seen. And that's at least why I'm personally insulted by this, but I've mellowed out a bit.

My first guess would be an anise based drink mixed with water. When anise flavored spirits (Ouzo, Raki, Arak, Pastis, Absinthe etc) are mixed with water, they go through a process called louching which turns them milky-white. They generally don't have quite the thickness required, but it's possible that it's just a mix of an anise flavored spirit and some thicker substance, such as maybe some simple syrup. It would make for a sweet, refreshing cocktail and would provide the needed appearance.

I kinda wish I would still get upset over stuff as easily as you, but the internet ruined me. I either don't care or laugh.

EDIT: Well the internet is just a tool really, because of how easily everything is connected now all of humanity's depravity is much more accessible.

Congratulations Internet. You have successfully torn away ALL faith in humanity I have left. I look forward to the day when this miserable little mud-ball of a planet is subsumed in the fiery flames of our own sun, annihilated by the radiation of a nuclear holocaust, or where we our bodies are tanged into Amino Acids and our souls are ripped away because a broken 14-year old boy can't get his shit together. Only this time, I hope we STAY tanged.

Lavinius, are you from Europe?
Because I'm really sure that very few Europeans would be okay with this.

^Well, I'm American, so indirectly from Europe.
Oh! You thought I was talking about the Hitler Techno Bar & Cocktail show! No, that was about the Shinji drink. But the same applies to that, I guess.

Phew! You scared me on this one!
Maybe it shocks less in the US because most of what's remembered from the US point of view is the campaign to liberate Europe, but here in European lands everyone remember the grueling years of occupation and all the destructions his invasions inflicted everywhere.

To give an example to compare with, it would be as if someone in France creates a Bin Laden themed cafe, I'm sure that most of the US citizen would go ballistic.(although I admit that Bin Laden is far more recent)

I would guess rum, whole fat dairy creamer, raw egg white and a pinch of sea salt.

Honestly if that happened I would just giggle. I'm not offended by that sort of thing, and I find that sort of reaction a bit amusing. There's already some restaurant not far from me by the name of Genghis Grill, and I don't see how that's any different. Though Temujin had plenty of admirable characteristics that Adolf lacked...

Wouldn't this apply to Napoleon as well (minus anyone still remembering it)? I'm pretty sure the main cause for Adolphobia is the genocidal agenda the guy had.

Is it bizarre of me to say I don't see this as much of a big deal? I mean, it's just more "loljapan". To be honest, I thought the moaning radishes were more WTF, a long with Xard's explanation as to what was MonMusuQuest, which I just had to ask about.
