Eva, group watching or alone?

This is the place to start: Feel free to introduce yourself, have general conversations and casual discussions about all things Evangelion, including chit-chatty topics like "Sachiel is adorable" or "Which Eva kicks the most ass?"

I've only ever seen it alone. I don't know of any other anime fans in Calgary, it's a rather boring city in that regard. Maybe there's an anime club at the university, I'll have to look in the fall...

Actually, seeing it alone for the first run through was, I think, a good thing. That way one can establish some opinions and interpretations about stuff on your own, without getting other's views right away. Don't get me wrong, I think that's a good thing to do after you have your own run through, but for the first view I'm glad I saw it alone.

All my anime liking friends are into that shounen ai crap.

Some of us happen to like that "shounen ai crap". :þ
Anyway, I'd love to watch it in a group but I have no one to watch it with. :( I need more friends who like anime...

Ergh, no offense. :?
It's simply not my cup of tea. (I'm not one for 'waff' in general.)

I got a little disappointed when I had asked if they wanted to watch some of Eva, and they were only interested in one episode.

That would be the moment I gave up on trying to watch Eva with friends.
We'll see whachu' got.

You can't really make anyone like Eva.. It's a matter of taste.
On one forum i'm at, people absolutly despise Eva! (i hope i spelled that right)

True.
It's also a matter of trying to watch new things.
How would you know if you dont like something without trying it out first, is what I mean.

Umm.. yeah, that too.
But there are many people who watched Eva and still don't like it...

Back on topic.
I like watching Eva alone better. I don't know why but i just do..
There's a certain feeling that you get while watching Eva by yourself that you just don't get while watching with others...

The first time you watch it should definetly be done alone, that way you can from your own opinion of it without others influencing you.

LOL Slade, just happened to me last week at a friends 4th of July party==the rest of this sentence is for people 21 and over, my advice is to switch the person to whiskey and after 4 or 5 shots in a short time they shut up fro the rest of the night==if you are under 21 and just read that shame, shame, shame- .

There's a certain feeling, and there's a lack of annoying people with equally annoying questions that you dont feel like answering right away.

I dont like to answer question half way through a program or movie.
I have too much anime, yet it's not enough. Anime Addict, if it were a drug; I'd be dead.

Personnally, I wish I could watch Eva with a group and discuss. Sadly very few of my friends share my penchant for Eva. The only "group" showings of Eva turned into make out parties.

Anyhoo... I prefer to watch it on my own, makes it a bit more personal. That and there's no heckling if there's no one there to do it.

I bet it would be pretty hard to watch such a deep anime series as EVA with a make-out party going on at the same time

I watch it alone because I don't know anyone else who would understand it. I suppose I could find some local anime club but I like to believe that I havn't sunk that low yet.
Yea and God said to Abraham, "You will kill your son Issac." And Abraham said, "I can't hear you, you'll have to speak into the microphone." And God said, "Oh I'm sorry, Is this better? Check, check, check... Jerry, pull the high end out, I'm still getting some hiss back here."

Oh don't worry Esion. Evangelion is like a gateway drug to Anime and the anime fan culture.. A VERY GOOD gateway drug, but a gateway drug all the same.

Same. Joining a local anime club would be my last choice.
