One of the problems I have with unfinished works, like this one, is that I have to wait until the end to figure out if I like it or not.

I have read several fanfics with EVA characters in alternate universes and, alas, IMHO 99% of what I came across was a bit pointless ( and sometimes really more than a bit ).
But this story has two bonus point:
- Some of the arts looks really good, especially some drawings of Rei in volume 2.
- I like airplanes and aviation since I was 5, so...

One thing that I can say for sure is that I like the idea and that it won't be a "read-and-forget".

And now I'm waiting for the next chapter ;) be it H or not.

Honestly, if you're not feelin' it, fuck 'em. The first, last, and only arbiter of what you ought to be writing is you. If others dig it, cool. If they don't, that's fine too. If you find yourself emphasizing things you like doing that also happen to resonate with others, great. But if you find yourself working on stuff you don't really like to please others? Problems.

This is a hobby for you, not a job. Write what you like and let the spazzes on the internets suck it up and deal.

Honestly, much as I may enjoy hentai in general, and much as I would enjoy hentai by you of this pairing in particular, I have to agree with Bagheera. If you're not feeling it, then there's no sense in forcing it. Ultimately, I'd rather have plot lightly seasoned with porn than porn lightly seasoned with plot. Now, if I can get plot with porn, that's an excellent thing. But if the plot is suffering at the expense of porn, and it's taking too long to crank it out... well, fuck it.

Besides, this was a side story. It's supposed to be fun. Personally, as much as I'd enjoy reading the hentai (and really, I would... I was one of the people who wanted to read it), I'd really rather be reading about what happens when Asuka comes out of her coma, and the emotional shit-storm that is sure to follow, and what I expect but dearly hope will not be the wreckage of her relationship with Shinji, and what the fuck went wrong with Unit-04, and where the hell Kaji is, and the build up to the battle between NERV/USA and Seele/North Korea.

Go where the story needs you to go, I guess, is what I'm saying.

I agree with the last two posters. Honestly even if it was a doujin, I would not personally call RE-TAKE a hentai. There were sex scenes with S/A interspersed throughout, but it wasn't prevalent. I can think of maybe 2 or three sex scenes, the rest was plot and character development. And it was honestly IMO rather well written.

Yeah, I agree with all those who agree with the agreeables. I stuck the hentai scene/chapter on the shelf for now. The problem was that a storm of creative conflicts rolled in. The Olympics washed out everything but Olympics and when the storm passed, radio controlled airplanes had me back in their vicious grip (I honestly think illicit drugs would be a cheaper way to flush money down the drain ). Then, a big ol' writer's block.

Anywho, I'm ready to let it be known that I quietly started drawing for CHAPTER 9 last week!

We finally see Kaworu and Rei on a date, Kaworu and Saburo have another reckoning, and Ritsuko urges Misato to make Shinji go home from the hospital.

But spoilers don't suit me ;)

The only reason the thread had gone silent was that there wasn't anything new to discuss for a long while.

Rei looks sad. Cute, but also sad. I don't expect that she'll ever go back to how she used to be before her accident, but I do hope that she and Kaworu rekindle their relationship. Under the right circumstances, I think they'd make a great couple.

Eh... um about that spoiler, this chapter does include material and imagery with strong yaoi overtones (the stuff between Kaworu and Saburo). It's not full on hentai, but I felt it was important to convey the overpowering physical temptations Kaworu feels and ultimately cannot resist. He wants to make a complete break from Saburo, but he can't get this kind of gratification anywhere else. As a (former) lover, Saburo provides an easy out for these frustrations. Saburo certainly won't object. But the bottom line is that it is a rotten situation for everyone really. Kaworu knows it and is starting to get fed up. The difference from this chapter is that we are starting to see Rei's feelings coming out.

As before, I will be providing a SFW version of the chapter, for those who don't want anything to do with yaoi.

And there is a Misato bath scene that is both amusing and sad. (Figure that one out)

Meh. I'm not a fan of yaoi, but that relationship seems to be important to the story so I'm fine with it. Still, I'm most interested in what Shinji and Asuka are up to, as always.

Yeah, I've done NOTHING to cultivate a yaoi fangirl audience, so to do yaoi matter is a big risk. If I were to poll my readers, I bet almost (if not) 100% of them would be non-yaoi fans.

And there's no reason for the yaoi fans to follow the comic with so much boyXgirl matter. It might be viewed by some as dead-end and ill-advised pandering, but let's face it- Kaworu doesn't play for the hetero team (in canon) and any relationships he has is going to have to deal with that.

But whatever he and Rei share is artistic GOLD if I can tap it and channel it in a careful way.
