It's getting a sequel.
I didn't think the first movie was great so I don't expect the sequel to be anything special.

I didn't think the original was anything special. At least Toy Story had a robust original to develop a case of sequelitis for. But Monsters, Inc.? Bleh.

Blech. Of course I haven't been at all interested in Pixar since The Incredibles, so there you go.

Evageeks- home of complainers about EVERYTHING.

Aside from Cars I've still to see a Pixar film that was less than incredible.

:asuka_happy: Yay, another Monsters, inc. Movie! The first pixar sequel not related to Toy Story! (Though, I doubt it won't be as good as the first.)

The first movie was very good, and I can't wait for this one. Also Cars 2 is in works also.

although Monsters, Inc. is not as bad as Cars, why is it getting a sequel and not The Incredibles?

A sequel to The Incredibles was made but as a video game which flop IIRC?

Monsters Inc. was okay, but the end didn't really set up situation for a good sequel. They don't scare the children anymore at the end, so what would they do now? Also there are other PIXAR much more deserving of a sequel. A Finding Nemo sequel would be good.

Or, you know, they could work on more original stories.

I suppose we should count our blessings and be thankful they're not doing a sequel to A Bug's Life.

Monsters Inc. 2? Is Pete Doctor even directing that? Since he's grown a whole lot more as an artist between Monsters Inc. and Up. Seems as though returning to Monsters would be a bit beneath him now,

I can see ways in which this sequel could work, and ways it could fail. Although if it's any indication, I felt Toy Story 2 was a much better film than the original. And the original was quite a feat to begin with. So seeing as how Pete Doctor has grown tremendously as an artist and seeing the previous track record of PIXAR sequels, this might actually turn out well.

But I do agree. A Finding Nemo 2: Lost in New York would be a bit redundant.

Why should we be happy about Monsters Inc. 2 when it is one of the two Pixar films that's just about average/little bit above that and nothing more?

Especially since only reason this film is being done is for contract shit, not because artistic passion or whatever.

See, this is the price Pixar has to pay for Wall-E, Up etc.

They had to promise that after Up they'd be doing sequels to Toy Story, Monsters Inc. and Cars.

I'm quite sure it won't take long 'till Cars 2 is announced

in other words it's just commerciality bullshit and since Monsters Inc. is weakest Pixar film ever there's nothing to "hurrah" about this.

That was announced 2 years ago already. It's supposed to come out in 2011. Here's some recent concept art.

Wait, Cars 2? So I suppose all original Pixar Films will end up having sequels. (BRING ON INCREDIBLES 2! :rei_dance: )
