Watched Zootopia. Loved it. Only one question:

What the hell do predators eat?

REBIRTH OF MOTHRA 3 (1998)
-- Overall definitely the best of the trilogy.
-- Least annoying cast of kids for sure.
-- The Twins have more story & characterization beyond being the usual plot devices they typically are in Godzilla films.
-- Actual serious tangible stakes with Ghidorah kidnapping thousands of children to slowly sadistically drain the life out of.
-- The design & suit for the Prehistoric Ghidorah is decent...
SPOILER: Show
Image

however the modern Grand Ghidorah is absolutely magnificent and the best Ghidorah suit we have ever gotten.
SPOILER: Show

-- All 3 battles are really damn good altho the first & 3rd are contrastingly curb stompingly one sided.
-- Score is fantastic and the best score of the trilogy & a song by the twins that is surprisingly not cringe inducing.
A few tracks...

In the Year of Our Lord 1980 (2009): Definitely a weaker movie than the first but still overall enjoyable. It seems to take away some of the mystique of the corruption from the perspective of 1974 - mostly due to exploring the interpersonal politics and interactions of the police, and the protagonist of this film also being a cop - however I like how by the the final half hour you once again feel like you're in an inescapable pit; you're doomed no matter what you fucking do. Also, an even more depressing ending. Not bittersweet nor poignant, just ugly and matter-of-factly. Fuck.

I watched Warcraft on Saturday. It was not a great movie by any means -- it rambled quite a lot and couldn't get beyond a central premise beyond "Gul'dan is bad and Medivh ain't the defender he's cracked up to be" -- but for people familiar with the lore it was pretty slick. Good FX, great complexity for the orcs, lots of great Easter eggs throughout.

But c'mon now, I can't be the only one who said, "Goddamn, I wish my mount could do that!" Because seriously, that griffon was badass.

Snowtown (2011)
I've seen a lot of violent movies about serial killings and such. Something about this one (despite not actually having much violence apart from 2 or 3 scenes) has really left me feeling disturbed. Maybe its the fact its a true story, or just the realism of the scenery/acting but I won't forget this film for a long time.

Yeah, Snowtown is a pretty harrowing flick. I remember seeing it on TV a few years ago. I just started to watch it because it was on and I had no idea what it was about. What seemed early on like a film about a young boy's miseries and coming-of-age ended up somewhere very different; something much more dark and sinister than I expected. Haunting stuff.

Also, Kaz, you should check out this Red Riding Trilogy I'm watching at the moment. I'm curious as to what you'd think and I'd very much like to hear your thoughts.

Independence Day: Resurgence

Has a fair share of funny moments, stellar returning cast members as well as part of the newer ones being tolerable while some you just want to kick their teeth in. I will say that it did prove that it doesn't need Will Smith to carry the franchise forward, your loss Will.

Godzilla Day: Independence Resurgence

Someone really needs to give Roland some Ritalin.
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

Swiss Army Man is now one of my all time favorite movies. Haven't laughed that hard or felt that sad about a movie at the same time since, well, ever I think. It's amazing.
Amarantos - an NGE AU, beginning with Asuka, Shinji, and a garden. Take a look. Couldn't hurt.

The fact that it took several tries to watch Dirty Grandpa to completion speaks volumes about the quality but it did hand out some LOLs. Plus Aubrey Plaza is SMOKIN' HOT!

I saw the new Independence Day. Other than Reese Witherapoons daughter being really gorgeous the rest of the movie was kinda meh.

I complain a lot about modern movies being drawn out but it was too compressed and had too large a cast.

Come on, Chuck, EVERYBODY knows this. It's such a simple process that I need not repeat the details of that process.
