With the new Robocop movie months away, I think it is fitting to create a topic to discuss about the upcoming movie and, if we feel like it, to discuss about the older Robocop movies.

So, I´ll start. I´m a big fan of the older movies and I have little hope for this new movie. Why? Because we have an unexpierenced director creating the movie and the few designs that were shown look bland. I have not given up completly in the new movie, but the outlook is grim.

... anyway... not sure if I feel up to seeing this. Also, seen the first (and only the first),... it's okay. Honestly, it's somewhat not on the top favorites, but... yet again, it has been a long time since seeing this film.

tomrule123: The reboot is old news already but it was a bit...dead. Recently though they have got many of the actors and did a little trailer(or is it a promo?).

Also, you should see the first two movies again to refresh your memory.

I´m afraid of these same effects. ED-209 is just not the same if it is rendered in CGI.

I´m not surprised people didn´t know. It was announced years ago but it´s status wasEAD. Only know it came back to life.

Comes out a little more than a year from now. Actually if memory rekalls the Robocop 2013 remake should hit theaters exactly one year after Total Recall 2012. And with the recent announcement of some idiot remaking Starship Troopers to be more like the book (i.e. less glorious satire & more fascist pro-war jingoist bullshit) it seems somewhere out there in Hollywood is a masterplan to remake ALL of Paul Verhoeven's work.

True, it is hard to sink lower then those two "things".

Also, I´m concerned about who´s creating the soundtrack. Both Robocop 1 and 2 had great music(even if the second one didn´t have Basil).

I hate to say it, but it is most likely gonna suck. That doesn't mean I won't see it. I think Robocop is one of the best science fiction movies ever made, and the sequels didn't do it any justice. Hopefully, the reboot goes the way of Star Trek and not Transformers.

I hardly Think of the movies he made has merits(what do people see in Tropa de Elite?) but I´m hoping he can give a nice spin in Robocop.

Also, I´m begging they change that Ed-209 design, it´s just bad!

I dunno, I kinda like the new ED-209, which at least has the overall same kind of design except a lot sleeker looking. The original is still a classic though.

Overall, this kinda looks a bit promising.

Well, it´s true it isn´t much different from the original, but I´m afraid it´s sleek design will also be used on the new robocop suit.

I don't really mind a sleeker Robocop either. I just want vitriolic satire, extreme explicit violence and raw human emotions out of this remake with no sign of a PG-13 rating.
