I only watch them for my own emotional attachment, unless it's horror.

The Hazing scene in Full Metal Jacket was very sad to me, specially how after being hit by the one last friend he had (who was forced to do it), just how gomer pyle cries like a helpless baby and joker can't take it, that thing of covering his face reminded me of Shinji at the end of episode 21, and on topic: The ending of Evangelion's episode 21.

The ending of Requiem for a dream was sad too but i guess it would be more appropiate to say it was cathartic or like an ecstasy, in a way it was really beautiful.

The Ending of Sweeney Todd was really sad for me as well. This a bit of a silly question but... Do musicals count?

I should be ashamed if this is the only scene that made me cry, let alone be sad in any way. Also, I figure everybody that cares to watch the following movie has watched it, plus it's been out for almost two years anyways, so...
That one scene at just about the end of Toy Story 3, where Andy gives his toys to Bonnie.
goddamn it why can't I even cry when I watch the frakkin' Titanic!?

So true, that scene with the papa in the sky, it's illegaly touching and sob-generator.

Two movies (among several, but those are the top-2) that always make me shed a tear or two or some more when re-watching them, is Forrest Gump and La Vita e Bella (Life is Beautiful), particularly the ending segments.
If you don't cry watching the above, then you have no heart, no sir.

I'd say it's a combination of the strong acting and the brilliant, absolutely great OST. Because you can't have a masterpiece without the respective music in the background.

Guess I have no heart... as much as I like the two movies (Forrest Gump a lot more than Life is Beautiful). I did shed tears when I saw the movie Billy Elliot though.

The last ten minutes of A Tale of Two Sisters are just absolutely heartbreaking. The film's music isn't helping matters. I seriously tear up sometimes just thinking about it how that would affect a person in real life. Unbearable.

Totally cried when I watched 50/50. The scene right before Joseph Gordon-Levitt goes under for surgery & he breaks his cool in front of his parents & worries whether he'll wake up or not is an INCREDIBLE moment. Love that film.

Sadly though (pity party coming) I find more tragedy in my real life... just went through a tragic break up. Fuck.

The second half of "Life is Beautiful". God, did I not see that coming... sort of. Sure, hints of
SPOILER: Show
the soldiers bombarding his Uncle's home would be destroyed in order to make a symbol of hatred
, but the first half had a very happy-go-lucky feeling. The second half: DAMN. I won't give anything away, but the ending almost made me :asuka_sad: and :asuka_happy: at the same time. Watch the film and see what I mean. Didn't make me cry for EoE, but this: definitely a different beast when it comes to emotional films. MANDATORY VIEWING. (despite being a bit inaccurate, but don't take the film seriously.)

@Life is Beautiful- Roberto Benigni wins Oscar. I love that guy.

Add a noble animal death to any film and you get instant tear-fuel.
Even in the Rugrats Movie. Damn.
This can also apply to noble machine deaths e.g. The Iron Giant.

I started to cry in Shawshank redemption when Captain Hadley got the Sh_t kicked out of him. Joking, he deserved it

Probably this scene in Wong Kar Wai's Ashes of Time. Very poignant monologue and beautifully acted by Maggie Cheung to boot.

The ending of "Sala Samobójców" (Suicide Room)... :crybaby: :crybaby: :crybaby: Even when ultimately i didn't care much for the kid in the sense that i believe he could have done something to avoid all that tragedy... But it's still extremely heart-wrenching, he may have been unvirtuous but he didn't deserve that... It's also scary to think how easily it could have been me if my parents were less comprehensive.

(By the way coL, i think you should watch the movie, at least at first the event that sends the guy in the downward spiral isn't really his fault, and the movie is extremely interesting.)[/url]

I totally did not tear up at the endings to The Return of the King and Saving Private Ryan.
