Yeah, the gag in itself was lame. I used it to identify the episode. The episode in itself was awesome, IMO, when the concept of common sense is challenged by the mayor's acceptance of who he really is, and that actually making him successful.
Arakawa is more romance driven than Zetsubou IMO. That's a big difference. I guess I would compare Arakawa more with something like Hachimitsu to Clover, weirder though.
