How is the Japanese fandom reacting to this? Worse than Ichigo's confession?

I realized that my last post was borderline incomprehensible. (I was filled with rage, when I wrote that up.)
Now I see, that it doesn't make any sense at all, lol. (Isn't it ironic)
I'll try to salvage it to get my point across.

I edited the last post, then I realized, that nobody would see that. So here's my second attempt to communicate my frustrations with this show.

The writing was even below the low standards the show has set so far.
I’ve never expected such shoddily written exposition dumps in a show that takes itself so seriously. Episode 20 was filled with stuff that One Punch Man persiflages - shows in which the bad guy reveals all his plans to the MC before the final confrontation. Difference being, while OPM makes us laugh, Episode 20 played it straight.
Examples:
Why is Doctor FranXXenstein nailed to the floor by Klaxobride? Why does she refuse to kill him once again?
WHY is Klaxobride spouting all this information? NOBODY has asked her to tell them. WHY is she suddenly using cryptic speech? She never did before. WHY does Klaxobride stop to let FranXXenstein explain what all the cryptic stuff means?
Why do Ape tell their plans to people they immediately kill after finishing?

Don't get me wrong, I know why the staff needed to do it this way. Because they didn't manage to tell us the motivation of those people in 19 prior Episodes.
In universe, it makes no sense at all. It's inelegant, it's lazy, it's BAD.

To top it all off, the staff seems to think their audience is mentally deficient. There was little foreshadowing to this reveal nobody saw coming (lol), but just to make sure and not overexert the audience, let's insert a scene in which the cast discusses all those instances. This atrocious scene ends with characters being shocked that Papa hid information from them. SRSLY. Have we participated in the same events prior.
Let's ignore how stupid that dramatic moment is in the context of the story - the fact that the characters need to spell it out, because otherwise we'd have no idea that this should be shocking is mind-boggling.

The brief romance scene between 002 and MC was cute, tho.

She couldn't kill him because he hadn't finished his part of the exposition. Also, why waste a good cliché? Again.

Well, ok. I'll give you that one.
Why don't I know her character well enough to infer that even without having to rely on her exposition, tho?

Well I just started watching this and I will post later when I'm further down the line once again I don't think the fan service element is that bad and I've seen complaints about the women are the submissive ones in the mechs but I'm not feeling that at all seated position aside I get the impression they are taking the a lot of the mental load and it really hurts them.

Also Zero Two is clearly a way more in your face version of Asuka who likes to tease and play and flirt and is very difficult to handle but even in the first episode I felt kind of sorry for her as its clear she doesn't care about people because they don't care about her hence why she crosses boundaries because she clearly think hey well you teat me like a freak of nature and out cast so why should I respect any of you on a personal level? Getting real Evangelion vibes off this though even in the first episode when a creature dies in pisses a shower of blue blood instead of red like Evangelion angels.

The nicovideo ratings were the lowest for the series to date. So far as I can tell, they're following chaz' lead on this one, rather than getting angry -- which may mean no episode 15-like rebound, no matter what happens next.

Thanks for that. I'll finish the series, but I'm not as invested as I was used to be, which nosedived at the VIRM reveal.

I'm not sure I trust Wikipedia but there hasn't been many action scenes at all since the mid season climax, so that isn't surprising. Still, I thought the animation in general(not just specific scenes) was more or less evenly shared between Trigger and A-1. I guess I was wrong?

The latter half of the series has so far been done by CloverWorks; but still under Nishigori's direction. We may see Imaishi returning to the staff for the coming episodes for more robot action.

Thinking on it some more if this trend holds, it would be worse than the viewers getting upset. At least they would care enough to get mad.

I had also read some forum comment elsewhere about a month ago that the BD/DVD sales weren't as expected. Found some numbers here: http://www.someanithing.com/series-data-quick-view-2

On a bit of a different note, something I noticed about the VIRM: "vir" is latin for "man". And with the trend of putting an -n or -m behind something to make it an ominous sounding plural, I wouldnt be surprised if the BIRM were another man-like entity like the Klaxos

My take on episode 20 (last week's).
I feel genuine disgust toward the idea of Kokoro apparently being pregnant, the episode was pretty fun in a "Hey didn't see that coming" sense, but I have yet to see how that stuff connects to the rest of the show.
Shinji: "Sooner or later I'll be betrayed... And they'll leave me. Still... I want to meet them again, because I believe my feelings at that time were real."
Ryuko: "I'm gonna knock ya on your asses!"

Also, poor Zero Two just can't catch a break, can she? I wonder what is it this time.

A question (and it is genuine): Is anybody invested in the relationship between Hiro and Zero Two at all?
It's OK if you are, but to me they have become such non-characters. I mean Hiro was the most simple character of the mains already, Zero Two has lost complexity little by little, leaving her to be le anime waif.
I'd like to hear from somebidy who maybe thinks differently.
I'm just surprised because this once seemed like the central plot.
Same can be said for the Goro and Ichigo stuff, which got resolved in a second.

Btw, as much as I'm disliking aspects of the series lately, the behind the scenes stuff was really nice.
Lots of respect for their work even if I don't like the end result (unless the remaining episodes convince me otherwise..)

Yes.

They're kids in love, so naturally you get the super sweet moments and little else. They don't have time to develop into something different. And I'm fine with that, their romance doesn't need to be complex.

Episode 21
SPOILER: Show
Well, screw their romance, I guess!

Slightly disappointing that they didn't fly straight into space. It'll probably still happen though.
