Lets just say that the German Wikipedia at one point claimed that pigeons are capable of flying faster than 200 kph.
While 001 would be just as good of an option, 000 would a) feel better from a storywriting perspective and b) get another Eva reference in, 000 being the prototype and such. Hell, maybe 001 will be a (failed?) test type

I think the whole 000 thing is that it's the pen name of the creative team behind the show. When the number shows up at the beginning of the OP, you can see the words "original story" float next to it.

Episode 18 was interesting, but

SPOILER: Show
why did they erease their memories but left the ring on? They are just gonna remember thanks to that and the power of boner.

I also wonder if she's pregnant and if they make her have an abort. My guess is yes and no.

As for the first - because plot. And for the second, I am not sure... could work either way.

And all the others remember too. Plus the brainwashing wears off or the memories can be triggered. Honestly I feel like the plot is just meandering around now and filling time until the rebellion stuff kicks off. I've hear a theory that Hero used Mitsuru and Kokoro as bait to see what would happen. I like ConnivingDarling. :P

I'm also not buying that 'death flag' they threw up for 02 in this episode with her guilt. I'd bet money that Darling is going to get his hands bloody in the coming revolt against SeelApe so he and 02 can continue meeting in the middle.

Of course will Hiro get his hands bloody. I am fairly sure all of them will.

SPOILER: Show
She was in their custody for weeks. If she would've gotten pregnant, that's enough time for the hormonal changes to set in and be noticed by the medical equipment. I mean, you can find that thing out from urine and they're likely monitoring her bloodwork during the process.

My read is that:

SPOILER: Show
-The adults either don't know about the importance of wedding bands or Dr. Franxx ordered them retained.
-Kokoro was fed a day after pill. Given the impending climactic battle, no sense in having a non-operational Genista because your stamen's body is going through changes.
-I also thought that Mitsuru and Kokoro would have gone through some testing to ensure that they can still pilot Genista, although the dialog upon their return makes this ambiguous. However again as sortie orders could come down at any moment, finding out at launch that Genista isn't operational is against APE's interests.

I was pleasantly surprised that the Ikuno incident was so sensitively handled -- I had been expecting "We Kannaduki no Miko now", and her absence from the wedding scene in the preview due to a prior engagement with a razor blade and a hot bath.

The wedding itself, and the preparations did what they could to avoid making Futoshi completely the butt of the joke, though the tone wavered in the "You may now kiss the bride." part. The ring exchange and attendant

>(Itai.)
>Sorry!
>It's okay.
>Keep going.
>(It's all the way in.)

must also have been deliberate.

And then things went downhill. Was 9α meant to look like he was levitating while avoiding 9ι's flailing around? Indeed the whole combat had no weight to it, with 9ζ/η/θ looking more like they were missing their cheerleader pom-poms. And someone needs to ship APE an executive summary of The Evil Overlord's Handbook, or at least a clue or two -- there's no point mind-wiping someone then putting them back amongst people who will inevitably try filling in their blanks (even immediately blabbing about sensitive parts of it in the hearing of the minions).

They hadn't had a problem doing that with Hiro - it was only the outcome of Hiro and Zero-Two getting together which blew that one, and even then they probably thought they still had a net benefit.

None of the other parasites were witnesses to what happened while 002 and 016 went AWOL that one time; there was nobody who could say "But don't you remember that...?" And that before the mutual "But I thought you were the new team member..." that's going to cause cognitive dissonance in the two subjects just processed all by itself.

A clear case of "it's not the crime, it's the cover-up" going on here.

Sure, this is far more blatant - but the wiping of Hiro's memory was not restricted to his AWOL period - his promise with Mitsuru being the key thing there. But again, I guess that could go unnoticed until the time came when his no longer remembering it became apparent (and then only Mitsuru would be clear about it). Still, there are suggestions of a more general change in Hiro at that time - we see him asking himself "when did I stop asking questions?" for instance.

I was surprised that they were allowed to retain the rings; I can only imagine that they will have a renewed significance in due time.

So, Episode 18
SPOILER: Show
It was nice that they finally acknowledged that gay people are not the devil and their only salvation will be conversion therapy. (I exaggerate) I feel like in a show that frames heterosexuality as rebelling against a status quo this is still important to clarify (at least for me). I mean, yes. I get it. My reading is totally different from the intended reading. It's talking straight (kek) to Japanese Otaku and not some European Gay guy. Look at the following tweet.

Haha, lol. Go make families, it's great. Free yourselfs from the shackles that are the powers that be. Go outside
Incredibly reductive as it may be, I get it.
It doesn't make your philosophy less dangerous for non-conformatist people, though.

Anyways, if you ignore that this show is not only the thematic antithesis to Utena, and conveys its themes inferior in every way, we are still left with highly entertaining drivel. Otaku bullshit par excellence. You gotta love it.

Which was the best part. I've rewatched it like 10 times. It was hysterical.
For the first time, the clumsy directing actually enhanced the clumsy writing in a weird backwards way and produced stellar entertainment.

I haven't caught my breath laughing, and it already decides to recreate plot points of Evangelion, but so poorly it's almost comical.
Compare how impactful the storming of the JSDF in EoE was, to the storming of the "orphanage" in this Episode. It's laughable.
Then they put the red haired girl in Ritsuko's cell only somehow manage to kill all the atmosphere that shot oozed.
Don't quote the show you love if you can't improve on it, or can do anything original, damn it. Don't make it worse!

Also there was the sequence in which Zombies attacked 002.

Backstory episode and rebellion episode, yay!

I wonder how far into the future we currently are? Circa 2100? Considering that Frank is not immortal and not senile enough to not be able to continue his research, he can't be (much) older than the natural human lifespan.

First klaxosaur was spotted in 2036, APE councilman said that war against the klaxx has been waged for century, so we can guess it's ~2140 now, and Franxx has been doing the absolute minimum of getting high off his own supply.
