Lol, yeah - it was hyperbole... Short Anime of the year is not too far-fetched, though...

Welp. With Episode 8 it looks like Luluco is going to be a wonderfully self indulgent celebration of all projects Trigger.

Holy crap. I can't believe it's been two years! Time sure does fly.

As for Luluco, it's getting a bit stale for me. I liked Season 2 well enough, because that was crazy insane awesomesauce, but now it feels like it's kind of fizzled. Maybe it'll pick up in Season 4.

Yes, I know. You thought it would be something about Asuka. You're such idiots.

Well the good thing is a Season is one regular TV anime episode long.
Makes me wonder how many Seasons there will be.

Only season 4 left.
Really enjoyed episode 9. I didn't expect to see
SPOILER: Show
a wave of semen
in Luluco, but I did.

I love how the
SPOILER: Show
"episode theme" text from the original short appears in the background

Edit: It seems Luluco is 13 episodes.
Shinji: "Sooner or later I'll be betrayed... And they'll leave me. Still... I want to meet them again, because I believe my feelings at that time were real."
Ryuko: "I'm gonna knock ya on your asses!"

It's from "Sex and Violence with Machspeed". I think it was a short for Anime Expo.

Yep. Love the EoE reference in there, too.

SPOILER: Show
I called it after episode 2 (Nova's introduction). It's just that these guys will always have some depressing cintent in their shows. A love story by tgese people just had to include heartbreak. With extreme consequences, obviously.

Props for calling out Luluco on having a very shallow love. All her affection for Nova was based on appearance. I liked that.

Plus they finally gave the Cool Alien voiced by the FLCL actress something to say. I really liked that!

The images at the beginning...wow.
There was one EoE inspired shot, I think. When Luluco wanders Hell, it reminds me of Misato and Shinji passing the Eva-00 prototypes.
Also, look out for the Mario question block.
Beautiful episode. The instrumental version of the ending made that moment. I just feel like Luluco's heart will be broken a second time.

I have to ask all of you, what makes the show so amazing? I remember watching the first episode and thinking when it was over, "What the hell is this shit?" I mean, the whole "you're under arrest/you're free to go" routine irritated me to no end. And I can't understand why all if you like it.

It's pure, zany Imaishi. If you're not entertained by its abrasiveness for the sake of it, then it just might not be your thing. Which is totally understandable and perfectly fine.
That ending song, though... Pretty sad, the full version isn't as cool as it could be, though.

There's no explaining it, words can't do this show JUSTICE!

Seriously though, It's a coming of age story disguised as nonsensical humor filled with self-references from a beloved animation studio. I imagine the nonsensical humor is the part you had a problem with.
