I don't know that many English dubs, since most of my Anime DVDs only have German dubbing on it.

But I really love the English dub of Space Dandy... :uhh: (please don't hurt me)

I liked Sailor Moon's dub, they had some good voice actors and the music in the Dic dub was good.
Liked all the inner senshi voices in Dic dub, Tux's voices were good, I liked Luna and Artemis and Diana's, Uranus and Neptune's were good, Chibiusa's second voice, a lot of the villains, etc.

I liked the Eva dub, it had a lot of good voices.

I always try to watch dubs when available to form a good opinion on an anime.
"Winds in the east, Mist coming in, Like something is brewing, About to begin. Can't put my finger on, What lies in store, But, I feel what's to happen, All happened before..." From Mary Poppins
"For Love and Justice, I'm the pretty sailor suited soldier, Sailor Moon! In the name of the Moon, I will punish you!" Sailor Moon
"Anta Baka?!" Asuka Langley Soryu
"We fall in love, our hearts may break, we lose sleep longing for someone, but that's how we know we're alive." Usagi Tsukino from the Sailor Moon S movie.
"I'm not a nerd, I'm a specialist!!" Sousuke Sagara from Full Metal Panic.

Oddly, New Century Zero had a much better dub, which is kinda funny given how much the fandom hates the show.

I'll second the Bebop, FMA, and GitS recommendations. InuYasha and Steins;Gate were good as well. The Ghibli films go without saying.

What would you say is the best Ghibli dub? Of the ones I saw, I really liked the Porco Rosso dub, and The Cat Returns was pretty good too. The Nausicaa dub was OK but a bit weak in places (not talking about the Warriors of the Wind dub for the record, which was so bad that when Disney contacted Ghibli asking for dub licensing, Miyazaki mailed them a freakin' katana with a note saying "No cuts". Awesome).

The Arietty UK dub was pretty good too. Can't comment on the US dub though.

Too bad Sailor Moon wasn't "best English dub" material though some voices fit. (British Luna = bad choice, since she's supposed to be young like Usagi/Serena.) Hope the new dub will have a good translation/voices since the '90s/'00s dubs were an adaptation. (I'd assume Crystal will use the same voices in both series since Viz has rights to both?)

My Criteria for favoring an English Dub over the original Japanese is SETTING.

If an Anime is set in a Medieval or European styled world (like Fullmetal Alchemist, Attack On Titan, Spice and Wolf), or the far future (Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star) I personally favor English dubs for those.

Then there are Anime where the original language makes more sense due to the setting. . .Things like Samurai Stories or High School Dramas set in Japan, I feel things like those make more sense in the original language. . .

Of course occasionally there are times where a dub for a series set in Japan or an Asian inspired setting blows me away, and I prefer those being an English Speaker. But those are few and far in between.

If I could pick two voices from that dub to come back it would be the first Usagi and Second Chibiusa.

Those voices were very good in my opinion. So did Rei, Makoto, and Minako.

SUB FOR LIFE!
... what idiot would say that? Anyway, yes the original version would be the main version that I would watch when viewing anime. That's not to say that some dubs do justice when compared to the original. A few of my favorites I wouldn't mind listening to the dub (but never would I declare the dub better than the original.)
Cowboy Bebop
Trigun
Hellsing Ultimate
Fate/Zero (the first Aniplex of America dub I've encountered, and I was surprised on how well this dub turned out.)
Gurren Lagann
Most of the Studio Ghibli/Disney dubs (not all. Yeah, didn't like the main characters' performances in "Castle in the Sky". Sooki and Dawson as Sheeta and Pazu? Good casting there, Disney.)
Black Lagoon (most of the time, I'd take Japanese Engrish Revy over American dub Revy. But everything else is still good.)
Lupin III 1st series Part 2 (Michelle Ruffe as Fujiko is one of her best performance I've ever heard. Everything else is enjoyable.)

By the way, if I were to compare who's better at dubbing: Aniplex/Funimation/Viz WAAAAAAY better than Sentai/ADV dubbing. ... imo.

Really? i thought it was Fuzors and...Genesis or something hat Zoids fans hated?

I mean, no doubt that CC/GF is hands down the best Zoids series but NCZ had its charm.

I've ben meaning to watch Eureka Seven... I'm broke at the moment but when i get some money I wanna get the BRs. I hear it has an excellent dub.

Those are more recent, though. And yeah, they were pretty awful.

*twitch* That's a matter of opinion, dude. Personally, I hated CC/GF with a passion on account of their massive plot holes and nauseating reliance on miracles to save the day. They're basically everything you shouldn't do when telling a story. NC0, by contrast, had lower ambitions but went to some effort to accomplish them with style and panache. And, at least IMO, that effort paid off marvelously.

Wait, Zoids has fans other than kids and model builders?

I mean granted I know bugger all about it but I always assumed it was basically a super-sentai style moichandise selling show.

I won't defend Zoids as some great story and Bagheera you are right about the plot holes and all of that. i just turn my brain off and enjoy it. I mean, the frickin' Death Stinger man! It flew around the world vaporizing cities so the heroes shoot it down. It just walks away from the orbital crash, completely unscathed, and then attacks the heroes' base. It will give them added time to defend against its coming by crossing over the mountains surrounding the base? it just blasts a hole through the mountains to get to their faster. Later it sinks into the magma deep in the core of of the planet so it can sneak up into a city. And then what finally fells it? Not one but TWO shots from a blackhole cannon.

It's a very silly show but it's just so awesome.

Watch this and you'll understand.

Meh. Honestly, it bored the hell out of me. I mean, who makes a scorpion the big bad as a followup to the fucking Death Saurer? And they never used the Mad Thunder, which is just criminal. But anyway, see the vid I linked above. The zoids in NC0 have so much personality, and I would match that battle against any in anime -- Gundam, Eva, anything. It was as good as mecha battles ever get, and the show was full of battles in that league. CC/GF just didn't meet that standard. IMO if the plot sucks and the battles are boring there's no reason for me to be there.

I do feel for Raven, though. It's gotta suck being forced to job for lame heroes on a regular basis.

NCZ had a great finale but I felt it was just too...episodic up to that point. I just don't care for episodic series. I like a more central plot, even if it's a dumb one. But once NCZ hit its stride with a firm focus on who the villains were and they had to be taken down, I enjoyed it a lot. A great climax.

My favorite character was Harry Champ though. A man destined to be king!
