At first, I thought that frantic directing was charming, and everything will sort itself out after a while. But now I'm 11 Episodes in and I still am not invested at all in the world and those characters. I still love the overall design, which was what kept me going through all those Episodes. But now we're almost at the halfway point and watching it feels like a chore; I just can't see any payoff coming for me...

I am just not made for normal Mecha-series, it seems. I don't like Macross and every Gundam I've watched so far has also failed to pique my interest.

I know there are a lot of fans, but it seems, it just isn't my cup of tea.

But thank you for your interest :)

another one bites the dust

G Reco is more something for veterans. Try the original combilation movies and War in the Pocket.

During a sleepless night, I started ZZ yesterday and there's a good chance, I'll drop it.

As much as I'm not a fan of ZZ, I still recommend trudging through it. It gets much better in the second half.

And it kinda needed to understand Char's Counterattack, cause the events of that is about the Second Neo Zeon War, this is about the First.

"So say we all!" -Admiral Adama (Battlestar Galactica)
"The only impossible is impossibility!" -Phineas Flynn (Phineas and Ferb)
"Screw you guys, I'm going home!" -Eric Cartman (South Park)

ZZ comes across as something of a "fuck you" to Zeta fans, and while I personally didn't like it at all (somehow I found Victory more enjoyable but for all the wrong reasons ), the second half of it is certainly watchable. Haman Karn is love. Haman Karn is live.

Jewdough on other hand is asldkgasigpohghoyuhjbblh[oi;h

Ah, okay, got it.
Yeah, it definitely feels like that "fuck you". I made it through 16 episodes now, but nothing got better. Especially the colony with the cult worshipping mobile suits as giants and their twin princess / revolutionary leaders was awful, really awful.
I am also not pleased by Bright having this new almost-love-interest, thinking of Mirai it feels unfair, although understandable, as they rarely see each other.
I don't know, maybe I will continue watching just because I'm interested in the historic events, what becomes of the Neo-Zeon movement aka Haman Karn & collegues. If I really like Haman as much as she seems to be loved by most fans I still don't know, but she is definitely one of the "better" characters ZZ has to offer.

By the way, I noticed Amuro in the opening: will he appear in ZZ, or was he cut out like Char (who can also still be seen during the intro)?
I apologize for any grammar mistakes, as I am not a native speaker.

He doesn't appear in ZZ I'm afraid. Kamille does make a reappearance though.

I watched episode 9 of G Reco after a month-long hiatus and I suddenly have no idea what's going on. What is each faction doing here, and what is SU-Cordism?

Thanks man, I feel reoriented now. This stuff isn't that hard, not sure why I got so confused.

Can't believe I forgot what SU-Cordism was. It's in the name ffs.

Wow episode 10 was really good. I've missed this.

Way ahead of you, I just forgot about it one week and then didn't realize until three weeks later.

There were two shows I was following on Thursday nights, this and Argevollen, another mecha series. Argevollen is quite bland I must say, with a setting that has a cookie-cutter, military sim vibe with a scenario you just know you must have seen somewhere, but can't place.

Nonetheless, it was easy to follow, the action was unexpectedly visceral at times, and I was interested to see just where they were going with the corporation selling hi-tech bots to both sides (uh, money, no surprise there. But the twist, if you can call it that, is just quite how the Captain of the unit takes advantage of the fact to turn the tables in the war.)

Reconguista, as you said, just became a chore to follow. Even to the extent I understood character motivations, I didn't quite buy them. The death of the guard Captain felt contrived and mean-spirited, which in turn meant I couldn't enjoy the action. There was no catharsis, no moment of real triumph, not even the pure elation I got from seeing a shitty character like Shinn Asuka getting their ass kicked in.

It was truly meaningless fights between people who given their motivations didn't seem they should be fighting, not with enemies built up, not taken down through well-coordinated action, but simply overpowered.

I was waiting for the show to give me fights I could get invested in, take sides, and enjoy rather than be apprehensive if one or the other got reemed. That's drama, and while that does have its place, here it just felt uninspired and poorly executed.

The waiting for the "real" fights got tiring. Argevollen had those fights already, as did try Try Fighters. So even after realizing, I didn't go back. Perhaps I'll pick it up again after the other two are finished.

I realized right away that this was ZZ op they were singing, but it didn't realize until now that this is what the op was saying, as I never watched it with subtitles, and the words blurred too easily for me to pick out the syllables.

For the first time in years, I saw episode 1 of Gundam SEED. Since I am also in the process of watching Cross Ange, certain Fukuda touches were noted by me. I can see that Fukuda likes to mount a collage of all the characters from left to right in his ED sequences. One part that I think I have to take a gander at again to see if I saw it wrong was whether Murrue pushed Kira out of the way as she got in the Strike since I never really saw him get on before the environment around it exploded. Either way, I want to invest myself in this series since I was always more in tune with the universes that tried to replicate the original Gundam's feel.
