yeah I remember the red head, when ever he shows up it makes me laugh.
I kind of love the quick change from comedy to tragedy.

You know every char clone had a half decent reason for wearing the mask so it makes me a little mad when I found out that guys reason

Zechs: wears the mask because he is Ashamed he is working for OZ the organization that ravaged his homeland

Rau: Wears the mask to hid the fact he has a identical face to El la Flaga (you know cause he is a clone)

Neo (Mu): No real reason was explained but it is most likely to hide his scar.

Char: To hide the fact he is not the real Char Aznable. The real char and the Char we know where childhood friends who looked identical to each other save for their eye colours. So when the real Char died (it was a assassination or something like that to kill whatever the char we know real name is but they got the wrong Char) the Char we know took up Char’s identity and joined Zeon and wore the mask to hide the fact he had blue eyes.

That guy from victory: Dust bothers him (THE HELL)

All other Char clones at least had a decent reason

@FM That's the silliest reason to wear a mask
Just finished Mirai Nikki episode 6, I enjoyed it.

Watched Last Exile: Fam, the Silver Wing Episode 4. This is turning into quite the moe/yuri show, which is good considering they're attempts at a more serious tone failed pretty hard. Just wish the animation had held up better this go-around.

Been watching Steins;Gate up to 5 now. It's getting interesting, could challenge a Dan Brown at any time of the day.

Made it up to episode 5 in The Devil Lady. Lets see what this anime has:

-Siren look alike? Check.
-Biollante homage? Check.
-Good fight scenes? Check.
-Good horror aspects? Check.
-Good psychological moments? Check.
-Neat monster designs? Check.
-Lesbian shark demons with tentacles that morph into Hitomi from Escaflowne? Check, seriously, how the hell does Go Nagai come up with this stuff? Not that I really care, I just thought "wow, that was out there."

So yeah, so far it's off to a really good start.

Maybe it's more like your preferences are shit, anyway, they could be shit (according to your opinion) but they've been very influential anime, which is more than enough to justify Tomino's famousness, the man radically changed the mecha genre between the late 70s and the early 80s.
View Original PostAlaska Slim wrote:I think VOTOMS is the better show, but its designs have not age nearly as well as the Gundam. In modern animation, they still look like oversized 80s toys, while Gundams tend to strike a better balance between "toy" and "thing you don't want looking in your general direction".

Indeed, lately I'm watching the various OVAs (according to the release date) and I've been really disappointed by the CG of Pailsen Files, I hope that the mecha look better in the following ones (Paisen Files is the last one that I've seen, I finished it just some hours ago), usually I never had problems with CG animated mecha, actually I tend to like them better than most cell-animated ones.
So let’s make a wish.

I have to second Hyper Shinchan. OK, I only watched very little of Ideon, but at least for Gundam, calling it "shit" is way too off the mark and ignore how great it was in giving fresh perspective of how giant robot anime could be done. I had given up watching giant robot anime then (that was when I was still in Primary School) but Gundam got me watch space opera / robot anime once again. Not to say it inspired multi-generations of anime and manga creators. The overly brief one line comment with the simplistic and ill-considered word "shit" only devalued Azathoth other more substantial and thoughtful comments, which is a real shame.

Was hard to bring myself to it because I really didn't want it to end, but I finished watching Cross Game. Fucking fantastic, 9/10 easily. Recommended!

Oddly enough now I feel like watching something crappy where you have this feeling of relief once you finish it.

Watched Persona 4 Episode 6 and Mawaru Penguindrum Episode 18.

P4 had another good episode. It looks like they've finally hit their stride, and they've also integrated the humor into the show better.

Penguin was good, though I'd been hoping for more. It also seems the teacher was as big a chump as everyone else when he was a child. Not much of a surprise.

How do you guys feel about Wings of Honneamise?

It certainly was really interesting, with some weird stuff here and there, but it´s an alright film.
Nothing super amazing though, maybe for it´s time, but that train already left for me.

I take that you're in the "Elfen Lied is a exploitation piece of crap" camp around here now?

Don't know. It's been so long I don't remember much of it, though from what I do remember it seemed alright.

Watched Fate Zero Episode 7. It was pretty meh until near the end. At least the fights were good.

Guilty Crown 05: Well, I'm not going to say that was good, but...it was certainly the least retarded episode so far. Wheelchair chick is pretty entertaining compared to everyone else in the show, even if she is a walking cliche.

...uh...rolling cliche. sorry

Still watching Persona 4, still awesome. Working my way through Genshiken* (need to watch the 3-episode OVA and Season 2) as well as Ninja Nonsense/Ninin ga Shinobuden (somewhere in the middle of that).

*I watched Volume 01 several years ago (December 2006 if memory serves me right), forgot somebody gave me the season 1 boxset then, and properly watched it recently.
